Marlins at Reds (8/7-8/9)

Featured Replies

Welp... Time to get the Reds back on tracks and start a thread since none of you all can answer the call ?.

The Reds start a 3 game home series against the Marlins Monday night. Start times are 6:40 on Monday and Tuesday and then a 12:35 business man special on Wednesday.

The series is huge for both teams as they battle it out for a chance at the NL's 3rd wild card spot. The Reds are currently tied for that spot with the Cubbies, while the Marlins are only a half game back.

The Reds are currently slated to have Williamson, Weaver and Ashcraft throw in these 3 games. There was a lot of scuttlebutt on Twitter (or X?) about Connor Phillips being scratched from his start today. Is he going to replace Weaver? Scratched for another reason? We shall see!

As I stated in another thread the Reds are 0-6 so far in August and the Marlins are only 1-5 and have lost 4 straight. I think we need to win 2 out 3 vs the Marlins and 2 out of 3 with the Pirates ove

This team is super young and 3-4 starters on the DL. They’re going to have incredible highs and lows.

Gets out of it! Reds win 5-2. MLB best 36th come from behind win.

Well that didn’t take long the 2nd hitter today instead of the first two hitters. I guess that’s an improvement lol. That was Williamson 13th homer allowed in 68.3 innings pitched. Reds down 1-0 heading to the bottom of the first inning.

C’mon @16thBBall Fan if we’re gonna update all the negative I need the positive too!

Friedl triples home 2 to give a 2-1 lead and then in the 4th CES and Votto go back to back. 4-1 good guys.

Williamson is solid so far. Giving up one hit and striking out 5.

I see we are up now 4-1 no one is happier than I am I guess I better not listen anymore tonight. lol

You need to invest in a self driving car with a TV. Does Tesla have that? Lol

All in good fun my friend.

Hey, I am watching the Cubs and the Mets maybe my bad luck will rub off on the red-hot Cubs they are down 5-2 in the bottom of the 3rd.

Williamson strikes out the side in the 6th.

1 hit through six, he’s walked no one and struck out 9.

Great outing by Williamson.

6.1 innings, 3 hits, 9 K’s, no walks.

The homer to right doesn’t go out in many other ballparks besides Cincy and one of the hits was an infield hit.

Absolutely! Young teams are streaky anyway.

Sims is able to come in and close out the 7th.

In the bottom of the 7th, Friedl picks up his second hit of the night, steals second and then advances to third on a bad throw (amazing what happens when you apply the pressure). Friedl is then driven home on a sac fly by Steer. You gotta love some small ball!

Reds are up 5-1 after 7.

Kevin Newman has no business playing multiple days a week in the middle of the infield with this roster, even with India out. One of the classic Bell head scratchers is why you even have Steer start at 2B one day last week if you're just going to play Newman there anyway.

Diaz making things interesting in the 9th. let's the first 2 hitters on in the 9th to bring the tying run to the plate.
