And I think T-Will should have given it up. At the same time, he is Louisville's best finisher, everyone knows it. And he can dunk a ball and blow the roof off the building, and Louisville needed that. So I call it a mistake, but I don't call it selfish.

I can understand that, BUT Louisville needs someone that can hit shots, Will Scott fills that void, plus he plays all out, and is savvy...

He was 4-18 in the last few games coming into tonight. He's a pure shooter, but he was cold as sushi coming in.

Yeah, and when our "shooters" (Jerry Smith, Will Scott, Brandon Jenkins, ect.) get an open look, they don't take it....

He was 12 of 26 in the past three games from deep. He should have had the green light. He was 2-8 tonight, not great but not terrible.

^ He doesn't follow his shots, AND with him if he is off in the first one or two...put it away and slash.

Look at the box score, and tell me that T-Will was the problem tonight.

Brandon Jenkins was a hole on the floor, and there's no confidence excuse now. He was fine the last few games, but he disappeared tonight. He was even bad on DEFENSE, which is almost shocking to me, because that's what he does best. But he failed to defend several critical perimeter shots that were catch and shoot uncontested.

I agree, offensively he is a nightmare right now, but his defense in that last gasp was flat out awesome.....

I thought the best defensive performance in the end came from Tello. He gutted it out.

Jenkins had as many rebounds as Williams did in 9 fewer minutes.

Jenkins had 2 assists to 1 turnover, while Williams turned it over 3 times.

Jenkins is a steadying influence who is a nice player when surrounded by talent. He is surrounded by very young talent.

However, as Pitino cited youth tonight, Marquette is quite young as well.

 

Bottom line is one of UL's worst shooters was taking the most shots, and that is Williams and he made a critical mistake in not distributing the basketball.

^ Very accurate, I can understand that Williams had been shooting decent, but he shoots better when the team shoots well, he is not one of those players that can will his shots in.

Williams has been miserable shooting the ball from 3.

25-103 on three-pointers. 25% clip. Under 50% on non-three point shooting.

Less than 50% from the foul line.

Yet he is continually taking the most shots.

Something is very wrong with that picture.

 

Luckily, the Big East is significantly down from last year. as good as they were last year, they are at the other end of the spectrum this year.

A stat I heard on the radio show on the way home....Louisville is 9-0 when they make 7 or more three's in a game...

As a freshman he shot above 30% from deep. In the past four games he's been at 41%. He's a better shooter than he's been the first two months of this year.

 

And, yes, he's under 50% from two... by less than a whole percentage point.

They just don't have the shooters and their non-shooters are taking the most shots.

Padgett has been fairly effective when I have seen him play. Let the big dog eat.

Presently, in games I have watched, the offense is dying with the ball in Williams hands.
