BillNye
I feel a bit disappointed overall with this. Last year, they at least had Greenwood to help test them. I don't see a single competitive out of district game on here. Will Glasgow be down a bit?
Tkinslow
They went 6-5 last year after winning the Region the year before. I think they will be better they have all 5 senior linemen back 3 of which that have been starting for 3 years and a very talented and big sophomore class with several young running backs. They also have a 3 year starting quarterback in Jessie and a manageable schedule with Hart having pretty much everyone back from the best team in school history and Franklin is always tough and then Somerset who are historically tough not sure about this coming year. They should have a very good regular season but I’m afraid the third round would be their limit as they would probably have to play Central or Cal in region championship which would probably be to much team for them.
Purple88
Love to see Glasgow and Franklin in the same district. Franklin leads the all time series 36-26-1. The series started all the way back in 1944. Glasgow is the 3rd most common opponent for Franklin Simpson with Russellville first and Bowling Green second. Love keeping that traditional opponent going. And should be good games going forward with potential district ramifications at play. 1

They’ve been in a district once before I think in the early 90s and Glasgow was pretty successful while they were in the district together.

Not trying to defend their schedule but it’s hard to schedule is this area you have the powerhouses in Bowling Green and then not a ton of tough teams. They have played Greenwood South Warren and Warren East recently and I don’t blame them for dropping Greenwood for cross town rival Barren Co. it’s just easier to criticize a schedule but probably a lot harder to actually make a schedule as a coach especially when you want to play schools that are kind of in the same area. I think this is pretty fair. The deal with this new schedule (home and home contracts) is that it fell along with Realignment and that Realignment was later I believe than in years past. This led to scrambling for alot of teams just to fill the schedule. But I do agree with BNye in that most of those games shouldn't cause Glasgow alot of difficulty. So going forward, in order to be in a better position to challenge those 3rd Round opponents, you likely need more difficult games on your schedule to prepare you for that. But it's not as easy as just writing them on a piece of paper; takes alot of work and relationship building to see that out. That is what takes your program up the ranks IMO. I'll be paying attention to that Glasgow v Franklin game this year!

You schedule who you can schedule. I get it. More or less, I was hoping for a stiffer test than Barren County before district play began. One of the BG area schools weren't the first that came to my mind. However, Warren East or Greenwood would've been nice games. I've seen Glasgow invite Woodford County to a bowl game, for example. Before FS was in their district they played quite a few times. I also would've been OK with someone like Taylor County. It's much to do about nothing really. Just a personal preference. Glasgow usually has the bodies to compete with said teams which is why I posed the question wondering if they might be down. It will be interesting to see them rebound from last year. They were in the same district in AA from 1995-98. FS beat Glasgow in 95 then went on to be state runner-up, losing to Breathitt County in double overtime. Glasgow beat FS and won the district from 96-98. In 96 FS was up 14-0, then Glasgow came back with 2 TDs and went for 2 after the last score to win 15-14. I think Fort Knox led by Derek Homer won the region that year. Glasgow won I think 28-0 in 97 but were upset by Elizabethtown in the first round of the playoffs. FS ended up winning the region and lost to Owensboro Catholic in the semis. Glasgow won 42-14 in 98 and both teams lost in the second round. 1

The problem with scheduling for Glasgow is they have so many traditional rivals in Russellville, Monroe Co and Allen Co they have been playing them for years. You throw in the 4 game district slate and then they are always going to schedule cross town rival Barren when Barren is willing. That only leaves two games Somerset who I feel like the coaches think is a quality team now you guys may know something different about Somerset that I don’t but traditionally they are pretty strong. The game they might could’ve scheduled someone tougher is Larue not talking bad about Larue but traditionally they are not as strong. So all that being said I think Glasgow’s main problem with scheduling is having so many foes they’ve played so long and having 4 district games instead of three which a lot of teams have also eats up a game.
