Beechwood at Covington Catholic Predictions/Updates (35th District Championship)

Featured Replies

The Tigers and the Colonels have both secured their spots in the 9th Region Tournament, which has its draw on Saturday morning. But tomorrow night it's about finishing business in the 35th District. Cov Cath hosts the district finals tomorrow night at 7:00pm and has home court advantage for the second meeting between the Colonels and Tigers this season.

Beechwood was host to Cov Cath when the two teams met in early January, and the Colonels headed home from Fort Mitchell with a 70-52 win. The Tigers were able to keep it close for the first half of the game, though, only trailing by 3 for most of the second quarter.

Beechwood heads into the district finals having only won 3 of their last 10 games, but the Tigers were able to mount a collosal effort on Wednesday night to take down an impressive Holy Cross team, holding Jacob Meyer to a "quiet" 27 points (10 points below his average) and cutting down the Indians' three point shooting by half.

Cov Cath heads into the finals with a 4 game win-streak, but still have two of their four losses this season fresh in their minds, having lost to both Male and North Laurel within the last three weeks.

What does Beechwood have to do to win their second 35th District title in five years? What will the Colonels' gameplan likely be to try to string their fourth straight 35th District title?
