Only thing I have learned about conference tournaments is they (generally) mean next-to-nothing when it comes to seeding. Do not get lulled into the "if UK wins the SEC they can move up a ___ seed." Win Friday and they might move up a line. After that nothing really matters.

Agreed. Winning the tournament has no impact on seeding. However, I do think making the finals can as you say possibly move up a seed.

One of Cal's staples is whining about the conference tournaments and how they affect seeding. A large portion of BBN eats it up.

I don't support the whining shtick, but I do largely agree with the sentiment unless you are needing the conference tournament to make it into the dance, conference tournaments are useless.

Agreed, and I think that is a good thing. A single game in the regular season, more often than not, is not going to make a huge difference in seeding. That should be the same for conference tournament games, IMO.

UK finished 25th in the NET rankings. The selection committee has UK ranked as its 23rd best team in the tournament. So the NET rankings definitely seemed pretty close to what the selection committee went with in deciding how to rank and seed teams.
