When: Saturday, 1/14, 4:30

Where: Collins High School

The two winningest teams in the 8th region so far will square off Saturday at Collins. Collins is currently ranking #2 in the region and #12 in the state. Grant County is currently ranked #3 in the region, and with a win in this game I am sure they will appear in the top-20 of the state.

Collins (14-1)

With their only loss this season coming to #9 Ballard, the Titans are a force to be reckoned with. Currently, they are on a 5-game winning streak. Collins is led in scoring by Kenyon Goodin with 20.1 ppg. He is also leading the team in rebounds with 6.1. The team is shooting an impressive 74.1% from the line, led yet again by Goodin (82.1%). Goodin is also leading the team in 3p% coming in with a 51.7% clip, and FG% shooting 58.1% from the field. He is helped by Isiah Cochran (12 ppg) and Quintin Simmons (11.5 ppg). The Titans stifling defense had led them to their 15-1 record, only giving up over 60 points one time all season, and holding opponents to an average of 50.6 ppg.

Grant County (16-1)

Since their early loss to Owen County, the Braves have been on fire. Currently they are on a 12-game win streak thanks to the majority of Dylan Hammonds. Before the season, everyone assumed that the 8th Region POTY was already wrapped up with WKU commit Teagan Moore, however Hammonds is giving him everything he has got. On the season, he is averaging 28.2 ppg, 13.6 rpg, and is shooting 57% from the field, 34% from 3, and 75% from the line. The offense is ran through Hammonds, but he is assisted in scoring by Spencer Breeden (10.9) and Micah Willis (10.6).

This is by far the most exciting game so far of the season in the 8th, and I am looking forward to see how it turns out! What are your predictions?

I think this comes down to the wire.  Grants defense has been pretty solid all year as well.     collins maybe be a little deeper.  Collins will be coming after playing Anderson Friday night.  If Anderson puts up a fight on Friday I believe Grant wins on Saturday.

Tone was set first 3 minutes.  Grant shot zero free throws first half.  Hammonds and wills beat up inside.  Second half all Collins and refs called tons of fouls both ways… collins made prob 13-14 threes…ultimately the 3 ball factor was the difference

Congrats to collins way to bounce back.
