Garrard County 64 Danville 54

Featured Replies

Final.

Garrard County may be a sleeper in the 45th and in the 12th region in general. Two big district wins already.

Nice win for the Golden Lions. Garrard and Danville have played a ton of close, competitive, fun games over the years. I think this is proof yet again that this district is solid from top to bottom this year.

Garrard is 2-1 in district play with all games played on the road. They’ll go to Lincoln next week then all of the district return trips will be played at Berea College due to water damage in the Garrard gym.

I agree. Really impressed by what they’re doing. Coach Cooper is doing a really good job and his son can score in bunches. They have other guards, like Fugate, that can fill it up too.

Agreed. Fugate is another ball handler who takes some pressure off Cooper; not to mention Fugate can score. They also add in players like Adams and J. Noe who are lurking on the perimeter when Cooper penitrates. Really solid outside shooting team. Might be the best 3pt shooting team in the district.

Conversely, this is a rough start to district play for the Ads, who are now 0-2.  Good thing is that there are lots of games left!

Ads didn't do themselves much a favor scheduling back to back district games.  I know with All-A and DCA coming into the district, it makes scheduling really difficult but I would never want to play back to back seed games.

Danville needs to change some things, first thing I would do is put the ball in Demauriah Brown hands, he should be the PG, I would also put in some kind of run and jump press to use their athletic ability. Danville just throws the ball around the perimeter, no cutting, no freeze dribble, nothing when teams zone them. Most team are going to play zone on Danville so they better figure something out or they will be 0-6 in District play.

Spot on.  They bewilder me sometimes watching them play.
