Do you think Cross District matchups have given up some great playoff matchups already?

Featured Replies

What’s your thoughts? I myself think we going to get some great matchups from the 2nd round on and occasional good first round matchups. Give your opinion?

Yes, I think cross-district is the best way to go, especially because you don't get a repeat of district matchups from the end of the regular season immediately.  Fresh matchups will always get a thumbs up from me, like Danville's last two opponents.

Cross district and RPI should give a lot better games in week 3 as well.

If you had a weak district before, that would put a weak team in round 3 automatically.  Now that is fixed.

Here are some very interesting matchups tonight that cross district bracketing made possible:

Paintsville at Bishop Brossart

Hazard at Williamsburg

Danville at Metcalfe County

Lloyd at Walton Verona

Paducah Tilghman at Casey County

Elizabethtown at Christian Academy Louisville

Belfry at Ashland

Franklin County at Spencer County

Greenwood at Owensboro

Scott County at Highlands

Covington Catholic at Douglass

Pulaski County at Woodford County

Male at St. Xavier

Manual at Bullitt East

Ryle at Ballard

Trinity at Simon Kenton

I love cross-district match-ups.  One of the things the KHSAA ever did that I hated the most, was when district teams had to play each other in round one.  I hated that.  Those two teams had just played each other the week, or two weeks, prior and it was not a good situation.  The team that lost the first game didn't have the chance to improve really, and the team that won the first match-up often had trouble getting their minds right to play the same team again.  As a fan, it just wasn't that exciting.

The only way I want to see two teams from the same district play each other, is if they just beat everyone from the other district and have to meet-up in the third round.  But, with the RPI being used for the third round, that is not even likely now.
