From their game September 22nd in which North Laurel had won 43-0, has now been changed to a 1-0 win by South Laurel. KHSAA website says "Forfeit (Self Reported Ineligible, original score 43-0 North Laurel).

This now makes South Laurel, North Laurel, and Whitley County all 1-3 in district and RPI will decide which team misses the playoffs.

Why the forfeit? Ineligible player?

I doubt it affects the standings much: North Laurel looks to be locked in at number three. However, with South Laurel set to face 5A Grant County in a winnable game, it might close the gap between them and Whitley County for the four seed provided Whitley doesn't beat Danville.

Three ineligible player forfeits came down from the KHSAA yesterday:

  • North Laurel's win over South Laurel on September 22
  • Seneca's opening night win over Moore
  • Christian County's opening night victory against Caldwell County

The last two are not district games and thus didn't affect postseason seeding.

The question for the 4th seed comes down to RPI S. Laurel should win at home vs. Grant Co. and Whitley Co. will have a tough time beating Danville. However since S. Laurel is already ahead by .06441 I don't think that South can change the RPI that much. I guess that spot won't be decided until Sat. morning.
