The Beechwood Tigers host the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts (one of the best team names in sports) at Beechwood this Friday, 7:30 pm kickoff. This is a huge district contest that will determine the district champion and top seed in round one of the playoffs.

Lloyd started the season 1-2 with two one point losses. Since then the Juggs have run off four straight wins and played their way into the top 10 teams in 2A. They have won those 4 games by an average score of 40-13.  Lloyd is a run dominant team and they surely will look to use their running game to control clock in this game. Their top RB is Kaiden Zulager with 779 yards rushing on the season. QB Isaiah Sebastian is a dual threat with 477 yards rushing and 490 yards passing.

The Juggs will be an underdog on the road against 2A #1 Beechwood. The Tigers are led by Mr. Football candidate Mitchell Berger. Berger is the leading scorer in the entire state and gets it done in every phase of the game playing RB, WR, LB, K and P for Beechwood. In his second game back from injury last Friday, QB Clay Hayden knocked off the rust going 12-14 passing and throwing TD passes to 3 different receivers.

Can the Juggs pull off the big upset at Beechwood? What do they need to do to make that happen?

  • I know there’s plenty on this roster. Top to bottom. There’s probably a vast majority who sub in on this team that would be starters at a lot of schools in NKY.

From what I've been told, we aren't gonna see him in a Beechwood uniform again.

Lloyd might have a chance against Beachwood. I don't think they have any chance against Beechwood. ?

I look forward to seeing how Beechwood prepares to stop the rushing attack of Lloyd. The games Beechwood has struggled in they had problems creating holes up front and protecting the QB. I am curious how big the lineman are for Lloyd and how deep they go. Being a 2A school Beechwood is able to play 6-7 different defensive lineman to keep them fresh. I anticipate a Tiger victory but fully expect a hard fought win that will be close early and then Beechwood wears them down and pulls away.

I think Beechwood runs away with this game in the 2nd half.  Considering these two teams may meet in the playoffs I think it is important for Beechwood to let Lloyd know even though you have a better team this year nothing has changed when you line up against the Tigers.

For you older Lloyd and Beechwood fans, sort of a redux of the late 80's welcome to Class A Football mantra.

I'm taking Beachwood in this one. However I think it's possible for the upset to happen.

I would be shocked.  I don't think there is any comparison between these two teams.

Zero comparison. Beechwood all day.

Crazy things happen. Has happened all season. Chance might be slim but there is a chance.

I wouldn't say any. There's always a chance for an upset due to injuries eligibility sickness ect. You saying they would be the same team if Berger had to come out the rest of the game?

Against Lloyd? Yes they would.

Dang that's tough. Just looking at the stats I'm seeing alot of Berger leading almost everything. He's a true stud. Zero chance is big words. The only team that I have seen that had zero chance is the team that never showed up.

I’m being harsh. There’s always a chance. But I’d say it’s less than 5%. Berger is a front runner for Mr. Football. There’s no question. But having Hayden back they wouldn’t have to run the ball 75% as much as they did while he was out. The offensive playbook has finally been opened up, and I’m sure Hergott still has a few pages we won’t see until the playoffs. Clay can sling it with the best of them. I’d love to see this offense without Berger for just a night to see what it could do.

No they wouldn't be the same, but Beechwood would win and they would still win by multiple TD's.

Why? Number one, Lloyd has to score to win. If Lloyd scores two TD's on Beechwood's defense it will be a surprise. Cov Cath is the only team that has scored more than one TD against Beechwood's defense (first team).

Does anyone know if you buy tickets at the gate is it or just online tickets?
