Hazard brings the Class 1A Top RPI and 4-1 record on the road to take on the 4-2 Somerset Briar Jumpers. Hazard is coming off it’s best defensive effort on the season only allowing 7 points this past Friday to 3A Ashland who put up 69 the week before. Hazard the week before their bye week give up 50 in the second half to Letcher County Central. So the bye week was definitely good for Hazard.

Somerset is sitting at 4-2 now with a recent victory over Williamsburg 38-28. Somersets other wins are over Garrard County, Russell County, Paintsville. Somerset will look to get win #5 and win #3 win over teams in the Bluegrass Preps Class 1A Top 10 this season. Hazard won this matchup last season 31-0. Somerset does hold the edge in the series since 2006 8-4.

Who wins this top 10 showdown of 1A vs 2A? Does Hazard go on the road and get another big win? Does Somerset continue its Class 1A demolition?

This seems to nearly always be a great match-up. I'd expect a close game to the end unless one or the other ends up bit by the turnover bug.

Unfortunately Somerset is not in Class A.  At this point Hazard looks to be the better team.

Beautiful day for our homecoming parade this afternoon and game tonight.

This year's homecoming floats,  each class gets 5 evenings to build their floats. While these look fine, there have been some very imaginative and complicated ones over the years. A parade that shuts down downtown with floats, the marching band, trucks loaded down with all of the fall sports teams and each homecoming queen candidate riding on the back of a convertible. The parade stops at the city square for a quick impromptu pep rally with the band playing the fight song and cheerleaders cheering...nothing like small town traditions!
