Bert Bathiany has a 2-0 record as a head coach, with the Knights' 27-21 win over the Ryle Raiders, and a 48-6 shellacking of the Henry Clay Blue Devils. During Bathiany's high school career at Highlands, the Bluebirds had a 5-1 record against the Colonels.

Eddie Eviston has a 3-3 record against Lex Cath, with losses in his first year as the Colonels' skipper as well as the last two years. The Knights put a stop to Cov Cath's undefeated season record in 2020, beating them 29-28 in Lexington, and then last year the Colonels were beaten 34-27 at home by the Knights. Coach Eviston's Colonels have only lost to two other in-state competitors more than once, with two losses a piece to Ryle and Highlands, but Lex Cath has notched more wins against Cov Cath during Eviston's tenure than any other team, in-state or out. The Colonels are currently sitting on a 1-1 record, with a 42-21 opening week loss to Elder (OH), and a 27-19 win this past Friday against defending 1A champ Pikeville.

The Knights are proving, once again, to be one of the top-notch passing teams in the state. Junior quarterback Jackson Wasik already has 491 yards and 5 TDs through the air. He connected 5 times with senior WR Hunter Foster against Ryle for 101 yards and 2 TDs, and last week he hit senior WR Max DeGraff 6 times for a whopping 274 yards and 5 TDs. Senior running back Walker Hall has added on 139 yards and 1 TD for the Lex Cath offense. The Knights' linebacking corps is stiff, with senior LB Hayden Dawahare leading the team in tackles with 19 including 3 tackles for loss, and LBs Spencer Bennington and Blake Foster with 11 tackles a piece. DL Chris Kern 9, DB Sam Clements 9.

Junior quarterback Evan Pitzer appears to be settling in as the Colonels' starter, after Senior Zac Roberts left the Elder game in the first half with an injury. Pitzer has thrown for 307 yards and 3 TDs, and has 46 yards and 1 TD running the ball. The receiving corps for the Colonels plays by committee; TE Willie Rodriguez has 113 yards and 1 TD on 5 receptions, RB Owen Leen has 8 receptions out of the backfield for 64 yards, WR Oliver Bent has 50 yards on 3 receptions, WR Oliver Link has 35 yards and 1 TD on 8 receptions, WR Louie Hodge has 34 yards and 1 TD on 2 receptions. Leen also has rushed 22 times for 112 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, the Colonels are led by senior LB Aiden Jones with 13 tackles including 1 tackle for loss. D-lineman Josh Flood has 12 tackles and 2 TFL, sophomore LB Tate Kruer has 11 tackles, DB Braylon Miller has 9 tackles, and D-lineman Ben Reeves has 8 tackles. Braylon Miller also returns kicks for the Colonels, and pulled out a 67 yard punt return for touchdown last week against Pikeville.

So, will the Knights add to their wins against Coach Eviston and the Colonels? Or will the Colonels head home with the dub after the game in Lexington on Friday?

7:30 kickoff?

Looks like it, from the PrepSpin countdown. It's been listed in the KHSAA Scoreboard for 7:00 since the schedule came out, and I checked again this morning. One of the Colonel Athletic Network guys had a tweet about an hour ago that showed a 7pm kick, so who knows what happened with that. 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like the line of communication is a well oiled machine.
