Brady gets Bank!!!

Featured Replies

Tom Brady will be making $375,000,000 over 10 years as the lead NFL analyst for FOX whenever he finally retires from playing. To put the $37.5 million per year in context, that is more than double Romo and Aikmen's pay this past season.

Surely FOX has an out if he just comes on and is horrible, I doubt he would be, but surely they do. What if Brady retires, becomes an alcoholic and just phones it in each week? That said, a drunk Brady on air would be awesome!!!

One report said this contract is about $40,000,000 more than he has made playing.

Interesting grab by Fox. I've never watched Brady and thought he had superstar personality appeal to him.

I feel like Fox had to make a big splash after losing Aikmen and Buck to ESPN and Manning sticking with ESPN to do the Manning Cast. I have a feeling Brady will be really good in the booth. With his work ethic, he will put the time in to be good.

This is just another reason to boycott pro sports.

I may be in the minority, but I do not watch sporting events based on who the announcers are.  Period.  Show me the best games and matchups.  That is all I need.  This goes for all sports.  I like some more than others, but it who calls the games, does not drive what I watch.  Ever.  I have trouble seeing how any announcer drives ratings and advertising dollars, but again, I may be in the minority.  This is not just about the Brady deal, but about all the new NFL announcer deals that have happened this off season.  Especially, those prime time crews for football.  This might sound familiar, but what are you going to do if you want to watch NFL football Sunday night?  I tune in for the game, not the announcing crew.  I want a professional crew, but I am more than satisfied with average announcing.  I just have trouble understanding how they make back their money on the investments into some of these announcers.  NFL is boom time now, but as the sport levels and plateaus, I wonder if the networks will regret the amount invested in announcers?

I am pretty much with you. Just below average and up I don't really pay attention one way or the other. Unless you have someone really bad in the booth that steps on the telecast, then I'm open to mostly everyone. The exception comes in if the telecasts are alternate (i.e. Manning Cast), that is reliant upon the commentators to deliver the content.

I'm very much with you.
