January 10, 200719 yr Author However I can see things objectively and UL will have a set back in the FB program plain and simple. your track record isn't all that respectable with this program.
January 10, 200719 yr Dream on. You had X winning it all last year as well I'm sure (that aint happening next year either). First of all I did not pick X to win it all I picked Male. If you don't think the Cats have a great shot at beating UL at home next year then you have not been following college football lately. Are you the guy who said Dickey Lyons Jr. could not play in the SEC? Before you dismiss UK's chances next year you had better wait until the smoke clears around here.
January 10, 200719 yr your track record isn't all that respectable with this program. You need to take off the red glasses and look at what is leaving especially if BB is gone! That's a lot going out the door and it will take a while to build back.
January 10, 200719 yr I don't think U of L is "done". I just think they've lost a rare coach in Bobby Petrino. I don't think Kragthorpe will be as good, so by default, I think the program will slip a little. What does that mean? I can't say for sure, but here is what I think... With Petrino, I think U of L was on the verge of landing in the BCS Title game...it was more a matter of when, not if. Now that he's gone, I don't expect that to happen. However, I still expect them to be a consistent contender to win the Big East, which means conference titles and BCS bowl games are still in their future...just maybe not as often. So, while I think they'll "slip", what I expect is far from a collapse...just something that happens when you lose a coach of that caliber. The U of L football program is in no state of pity. Of course, I could be completely wrong...what do I know?
January 10, 200719 yr Of course, I could be completely wrong...what do I know? Good point. Moving on...
January 10, 200719 yr Because theres another side to all this- As good as Petrino was at recruiting, he was always hamstrung by the negative recruiting he was up against because of his flirtations and rumors of leaving. Imagine the talent Louisville could have signed if recruits didn't think he was leaving! If the next coach is successful at the level of, say, a 9 or 10 win season next year, I think we'll be right where we were recruiting-wise. We already have GREAT players here, not just Brohm and Bush, which we showed while playing without both of them this season. If play calling is the only big issue, I'm not that worried. Petrino didn't have a lot of shock and awe in his play calling, it was the system- be efficient, run and set up the play action pass, get the ball to your playmakers, don't be predictable. That can all be a lot harder than it sounds, but these are not traits unique to Bobby Petrino.
January 10, 200719 yr Good point. Moving on... Thanks, I have my moments... ...wait a minute...was that a compliment?

No. I pointed out that he could not have played for his home state school. He couldn't. The fact is you picked the Cats over the Cards last year, thats a pretty big credibility gap. Are we talking about "a shot"? Sure. But I still think the Cats lose. Better game, but still a loss. FYI, your HS pick was still wrong.
January 10, 200719 yr FYI, your HS pick was still wrong. I think it's been shown on here that you don't need to be critiquing other people's picks. You predicted four wins by UK and Brooks out the door. How did that one turn out?
January 10, 200719 yr Everyone: Keep the discussion on the topic, and not jabbing at each other personally.

January 15, 200719 yr I would indeed like to see a view about the Cards from him now. He would probably stick by what he wrote.
January 15, 200719 yr He would probably stick by what he wrote.2 of 5 is not a very good percentage. Bush and Petrino left, but Brohm, Douglas and Urrutia are still here.
