Tonight is the 5th Annual Dan Tieman Classic taking place at Northern Kentucky University's BB&T Arena. The game features the #5 Covington Catholic Colonels versus the #6 North Laurel Jaguars in a rematch from the championship game of the King of the Bluegrass Tournament from December 21, 2021. Cov Cath won that game 79-67.

The Colonels are currently 19-4 while North Laurel enters with a record of 21-4. North Laurel is led by UK commit Reed Sheppard and Cov Cath’s Mitchell Rylee has signed with Miami of Ohio. Cov Cath junior guard Evan Ipsaro, currently averaging 23 points per game, has multiple Division 1 offers as well.

The Varsity game will tip off at 7:30pm following a 6:00pm JV game. Tickets are $10 Adult, $5 Students/Seniors and are available in the CovCath main office or via Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com/event/16005C24D83A83BE (a link is also available at www.covcath.org/tickets).

This event is played annually in memory of former Cincinnati Royal Dan Tieman, who was a teammate of Oscar Robertson while with the Royals. Coach T returned to CCH to be a longtime teacher and coach and currently holds the school record for wins at 313.

CovCath always seems to adapt and play well on the bigger court.  I'm going 75-69 Colonels.
