Cooper 44 Newport 39

They both play a slowed up style, but still a little surprised that the Jags didn't win this one by a lot more.

I'm with you on that.

Just an ugly game all the way around.  After a good 1st quarter by Cooper, and Newport for that matter, the game went down hill.  Newport held the ball forever it seemed on offense, primarily due to the Jags typical tough defense, and when Cooper did get the rebound they did try to get out and run but simply could not find the basket.  The offense was not good for either team past the first quarter.

Coach Snapp was his exciting self and Coach Sully lost it a time or too on his players as well.  Not a good game for either team which kept it very close.

Coach Snapp has obviously schooled his guys into this stall ball style because that's how they've played it all season, and I suppose it's the only thing that gives them any chance of winning, or keeping games close, but it's beyond me that his guys don't find it to be a completely boring way to play. He has a young team that looks like they might have a promising future, but as for now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

When was the last time a 9th region team started 2 8th graders and gave one of the strongest teams in the 9th region a game?
