They may not have the same stats but shelby valley has some very good freshmen players.

 

I was very impressed with Shelby Valley's freshman.

He is a 6'1 senior and has started for GRC for the last 4 years. He is a very unselfish player, loves to give great passes, great court vision. Outstanding leaper and aggressive defender. Last year Preston averaged 21 points a game. He is very athletic, great basketball knowledge and a player you really enjoy watching play the game. If he needs to score he can take you off the dribble, very hard to stop. Not sure on his assists, ball deflections and rebound average, but they are very impressive as well.

 

Xavier has been hot after him for a long time. K-State, Morehead, Eastern, have all made offers. Va Commonwealth is scouting him this next week. A scout will be at the North Laurel game...can't remember what school, but it is D-1. Other D-1 schools have shown their interest and will be at some games to scout him before the season is over. After the 5/3 he is getting more attention...and rightly so.

 

Thank you,I saw Preston play at the 5/3 and was very impressed,I saw him play this summer and he has improved alot.I havent seen all of the state's top players but I have seen most of the ones being discussed,and in my opinion Preston Knowles is the best one i have seen.

Anyone who has seen Hopson play this year would realize that the word with him is potential not best of the best right now. He doesnt play hard, he doesnt play smart, and his attitude isnt the best. Thats my opinion after seeing him twice already. Also, I cant see Pettigrew and Walls not being on anyone's first team right now.

The opinions that count are the one's provided by college recruiters when they offer a scholarship or not. I am anxious to see where these players end up and then compare them to the opinions on this board. This will be interesting.

If you are just going by this year and this year only. You HAVE to put Doug Beaumont on your first team. I mean Mr.Everything has taken Male to a 2nd place finish at the KOB which he was on the all-tourney team. Then Led his team to the 5/3 championship and MVP honors there. I got to give a nod to him on my first team.

A player's potential to be a good college player does not make him anymore deserving of All State than a player who does not have as much potential. If that is what your going by then Hopson is top of the line. But hes obviously not playing like it.
