UK Football Recruiting 2007

Featured Replies

The word on Goode is that he is not a "done-deal" yet. Anyone heard anything on this?

Thats the word around the net, however, all the recruiting websites still have him committed to UK. I would much rather us lose Allen than Goode now that we have committed Brandon Jackson. Goode is the more between the tackles guy, while Jackson can do a little bit of everything. Would be very nice to see this duo sharing carries in their junior/senior years. The message boards are saying Goode is gone, but I'm not buying into it just yet. Hopefully we can get him as well as Jackson onto campus.

The word i heard on Goode was that he is no longer committed to UK and grades have been an issue. However, Rivals still has him listed on UK's commitment list.

This is a quote from Januaru 22 issue of Sporting News:

"Nick Fanuzzi, who gave a verbal commitment to Miami last spring, has reopened his recruitment and also is considering Kentucky, where his father, Mike Fanuzzi, was a star quarterback, and Michigan State. Larry Coker's staff identified Fanuzzi early and told him he would be the only quarterback Miami recruited. When Shannon was hired he told Fanuzzi the Canes wanted two more quarterbacks in this recruiting class."

Sounds like UK may pick up a dandy with Fanuzzi if they can convince him to sign. His dad was certainly a great player.

I dont think UK is going to recruit Fanuzzi. They are perfectly happy with Matt Lentz from South Carolina.

Goode may be heading to Clemson.

What about DJ Stafford? Anyone know anything about this guy? I see he is supposedly the #2 DT in the country. Sounds like an immediate impact type guy, even if he just platoons with someone.

I think he's the kid that hit another teams player so hard he broke their spleen in a game earlier this year. Most vicious hit I've quite possibly ever seen. Think Micah Johnson, except he's a little bigger and not quite as quick.

UK making Randy Sanders their new recruiting coordinator will help immensley down the road. Good move by UK.

Thats odd, recruiting was not considered a strength while at UT. He failed to deliver a number of top recruits during his tenure there. It was one of the reasons Phil let him go.

I'm sure there were a lot of failures at Tennessee that were blamed on him -- justified or not. I do know he appears to have a wealth of contacts around the country from his days at UT, which could open some doors to contacting recruits.

I think Sanders was also the recruiting coordinator at UT in the years before their national title.

I agree with you about Lentz, however, I am a fan of Fidler myself. I think Will has a big upside and could develop into a fine QB. So were winning no matter what after Woodsons departure, even with the Pulley issues.

I really hope Goode don't leave, although we still get Brandon Jackson, Goode would have gave us that one two punch (thunder/lightning effect) in a few years teamed up with Jackson. I would have much rather seen Allen go if it came down to the two, but I guess if we have to lose one it will be okay thanks to the arrival of BJ.

Actually, that was his teammate Mychal Bailey i believe.

Was it? The person who showed me the clipp told me it was Stafford, but they had a bit much to drink.

Whoever it was, it was one of the toughest hits I've ever seen.

I saw that hit too, was it the one on a punt return? If so i believe it was fellow uk committ Bailey.

Yup, it was on the punt return.. Nice to know he'll be at UK, even though he isn't who I thought he was. :thumb:
