Nicely put. It certainly isn't difficult to make the case for Brown. She is the strongest player at her position that I've seen and has quickness to go with her physical strength. I would like to see her against Scott County or LexCath.

 

Brown and Queen played together the past two summers and it was fun to see them on the floor together. If you can run the floor, Hope can get it to you...and you better have good hands, because the pass will come quickly.

 

I wish those of us in the eastern part of the state had more opportunities to see her play. If you know her, express to her good wishes from one of her Blue Chip Elite teammates.

I agree with everything that yall are saying. Emily Queen and Rebecca Gray are extremely good athletes, and I would have to say it is between them two for Miss Basketball. But Melly Heaton from Caldwell County is putting up numbers this year that should at least put her in the running for it. From what I hear and I seen in the KHSAA site, she is one of the top scorer in the state with 25.9 points a game. I've seen her play a couple of times and I have never seen a girl with more offensive skills then her. I know that she probably wont get it because there are some great player in the state and I am not taking nothing from them, I just think a girl from the western part of the state that is dominating around there should get her name mentioned when they start talking about the greatest player in the state.

I think one player who doesn't get nearly the respect she deserves is Keyla Snowden of Lexington Catholic. I know she is surrounded by some good talent but this girl performs well against some good competition. She wont win Miss Basketball but I definately think she is worthy of a mention for the award.

I've never seen a player more calm and cool even in the most intense moments. Thats boys or girls basketball.

Choosing a Mr. or Miss Basketball used to be a no-brainer but over the last 8-10 years it has become a popularity contest. RH's two top players showed against LC that they can play against anyone. IMO, Emily and Laura do not have a chance, not because they are not deserving but because they are in Eastern Kentucky. I do not know what all goes into making the decision but based on overall careers no one has really accomplished what E & L has especially coming from so little of a school. I believe that both have a great chance of making the Kentucky All-Star team. My question is, when was the last time two players from the same team made the All Star team? Just as LC's coach stated both E & L will do great for MTS and UL. Enough said, we know they are two of the best (IMO in the top 5) players in the state. They are putting up amazing numbers while getting doubled and tripled teamed for the entire game. I have not seen the likes of two players on the same team this good since Larry Conley and Harold Sargent played at Ashland. Can anyone else name a team in the 16th region, boys or girls that had two players of this caliber?

I'd say Briana Green and Natalie Novosel would give them a run as best teammate duo. I know its not the 16th region but I was just listing a pretty solid teammate duo. Still, I have never gotten to see Rose Hill's stars play but everyone I have ever talked to has given high praise. Lex Cath's fans were impressed.

She is a 3 year starter for the Nelson Co Cards and averaging over 20/game against staunch competition. Here older brother was a freshman on the UK football team TC Drake. Did not play much early on but played a lot of tight end in the bowl game. She has already been contacted by both Tenn. and NC. She has been invited to play AAU in California this summer. I saw her at the Shoot for the Cure and was very impressed. It seemed to me that she was one of those kids that, because of her size, had been put in the post most of her playing days.

 

She was very good on the low block, but I would liked to have seen her handle the ball further away from the basket. She may well be quite capable away from the basket, but on that night she didn't get many opportunities outside the paint.

Know, won't get many votes for player of the year since in far western kentucky, but I do hope Melly Heaton gets consideration for other awards. Averaging 25 points a game when every team targeted her with 3 freshman starters, led Caldwell to a 17-9 season. Great player, but also a great young woman, I hope her the best in college...
