Ballard IMO should be #2 right now after winning the KOB and maybe Mason Co. at #3. Ballard is too deep and too quick for mason Co. Just m opinion

Let's have a reality check here. Mason County hasn't played any elite teams yet. If they win the 5/3 (which I doubt), maybe then we can make some noise about being highly ranked. Also, Clark and Brossart will give the Royals all they want in the 10th this year. Much as I support the Royals (and yes, I will be at their game tomorrow night), I think being ranked 2nd is a bit much.

 

December rankings are nice for discussion, but not much more than that.

If Mason and JBS meet in the final of the 5/3rd , given that JBS makes it that far... Mason would beat JBS by around 25. Still have to believe the boys in the mtns. got some home cookin'.

You evidently weren't there. No home cooking and Mason doesn't beat JBS anywhere close to 25. If Mason is the #2 team in the state based on the 2 games I have seen them play then we have a down year for basketball in KY. They are a good, solid, basketball team with, in my opinion, the best player in the state. They are not the second best team in the state.

I think the assumption is that on BGP Warren Central was ranked #2 and MC #3. Central has lost twice since then while Mason is still unbeaten.

 

Mason has beaten up on some pretty mediocre teams so far. Should be interesting to see how they do this week.

I dont understand why everyone is so big on Mason Co. either. They are a good team but lets not get carried away. They havent beaten anyone besides June Buchanan thats worth mentioning. ( and that was by 2 ) I dont think they are the second best team in the state, I dont even think they are the second best team in the Fifth Third.

Mason has played a weak schedule so far. I agree they are a good team, but will have a couple of teams that will challenge them for the 10th region title.

 

I remember several, several years ago Ashland was ranked #1 in the state...but after the regional finals...second in the 16th region. That is why they play the games.:thumb:

Looks like alot of these Louisville teams are just as good as Scott County & Mason County, Now those teams do play rough & tough schedules..

 

Yes, I agree but the Louisville teams always fold or go down early in sweet sixteen. THey are usually so big headed in themselves not being able to be beat then the big upset. These guys like to look pretty on the court and not play team ball.. :scared:

So, just in this decade, that's one champion; two runners-up; and three other teams that made it to Saturday. The only first round exits came during a down stretch for the 6th region. So, that's 6 out of a possible 16 playing on the final day (actually less if you consider them being in the same bracket). In comparison only 2 out of a possible 8 coming from the 10th region. But if you really want to see how "pretty" things are in Louisville, we can continue into the 90's when 5 of the titles were won by teams that were among the best in the nation. Not to mention the 7th region tournament in the past 8 years has often included 3 or more top 10 teams in the state.

I think Mason County is a fairly deserved #2.

They are undefeated and have played Scott at Scott, June Buchanan on a

neutral floor, and putting away quite easily an up and coming Ashland team is

more impressive than a couple of losses by Warren Central.

Mason County is a good team, but I have a hard time believing they are the second best team in the state of Kentucky right now.
