Bishop Brossart 13 Lloyd Memorial 8

This is a big win for our program.  Lloyd has always been perceived as being on a different level than our Mustangs.  We had no luck with them during our four year stint in Class 2A, and while Lloyd lives with the mid-majors of the area, they very rarely, if ever, lose to a Class 1A program.  We consider this a giant step forward for our program which is now 5-0, including wins over Newport and Holy Cross.

Reminiscent of the Holy Cross game a week ago, neither team picked up a first down on their first offensive series, and like last week on our second set of downs, Jacob Leicht marched our team 62 yards for a touchdown when he connected with Evan Orth on a 36 yard pass play giving the Mustangs a 7-0 lead when Andrew "Dewey" Schwartz split the uprights.  Lloyd attempted to answer eating up 60 yards before fumbling the ball away at the Brossart ten yard line.  That turnover would result in a Safety as Jacob Leicht, the Mustang quarterback was sacked in the endzone, and quickly it was 7-2.  Without Mason Meyer, our normal punter, we elected to kick off from our own 20 which was returned to the Brossart one, and then pushed into the endzone for a Lloyd score.  That was the first points surrendered by our defense this season.  Their two-point conversion effort was short and 8-7 in favor of the visitors would be the score until Brossart scored on a 60 yard pass play from Jacob Leicht to Jed Martin late in the game, and a picked up flag, resulted in Brossart taking the lead at 13-8 and that would be the final score.

Brossart will host Ludlow next Friday night in the third of a four game home stand.
