I'll post a lot more detail about this game as the week goes on....

It's NORTH VS SOUTH in Oldham County this week, as the South Oldham Dragons (1-2) travel to Goshen, KY to face arch-rival North Oldham.   The Mustangs come into the game also 1-2.

North whipped Louisville Holy Cross this week, 27-7, for their first win under new coach Jamie Brown.    The Mustangs' defense, which is garnering early-season praise from many quarters, dominated.

South fell to 6A #7 Ballard on the road, 41-12, on Friday.   South has played a brutal early schedule, with their other loss to 3A #1 CAL in week one, also on the road.

South Oldham coach Jamie Reed (98-37) is just 2 wins away from his 100th victory as South Oldham head coach.

Pegasus Sports will cover the game - FREE, live high definition video coverage - beginning with a special 1-hour pregame show starting at 6:30 pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com.

I'll post updates as I can from the field.

North is still getting used to the new coach. They have what it takes to be a good team but it will take time. I’ll go with South in this one.

I meant to post the story line for this one, but between starting a new job this week, running our fall ball little league, coaching a team in that little league, ad infinitum.....I just haven't had a chance.

This one shapes up into a question of which offense has a breakout game.   Both offenses have struggled so far - South, running a new system, and having faced two highly-ranked teams in Ballard and CAL, is looking to get that passing game going and more consistency in the run game.  The return of Kyle Smythe was promising in last week's game; his 50+ yard TD run was one of the most exciting plays of the night.

North, also running a new system - and under a new coach - will also have to deal with a new starting QB this week after Jace Bullock suffered a broken collarbone last week.    Nick Freeland, however, was last year's starting QB, so he's no stranger to the role.

The North defense has shown a lot of promise so far this year, and dominated Holy Cross in a 27-7 victory last week.   South has given up points - but they've also faced much more daunting opposition so far.

If this one is decided in the trenches, as many football games are, then South has a decided advantage, with a bevy of strong, BIG, veteran linemen, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.    North is definitely smaller across the board, but just might have the advantage in terms of speed, with speedsters such as Blake Wetzel, who play on both sides of the ball.

This should be a very fun game.
