The PLD Bulldogs (1-2) will host cross town rival Fredrick Douglass Broncos (3-0). The Broncos will be looking for their 23rd straight win in program history over schools in Lexington. The Broncos are 3-0 all-time vs the Bulldogs outscoring them 150-15. They were unable to play last season despite various attempts due to Covid.

Dunbar is led by junior quarterback Cole Colony who has thrown for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. Colony has also rushed for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Bulldogs are led in rushing by Kamarion Robinson who has rushed for over 350 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Dunbar defense will have its hands full with the Douglass high powered offense. The Bulldog defense is allowing over 41 points per game, while the Broncos are averaging almost 43 points per-game.

Frederick Douglass will be playing their 4th straight city school to open this season. The Broncos are coming off a 51-0 win at Lafayette. The Broncos had big games from quarterback Samuel Cornett who threw for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cornett also rushed for a touchdown as well. Cameron Dunn the Broncos multi-purpose player had another big game with two touchdowns. Dunn had a receiving touchdown and a 66 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to begin the 2nd half. Dane Key also had another nice game with 5 catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. Key has score a touchdown in each of the Broncos 3 games this season.

The Douglass defense had another stellar game. They only allowed the Generals offense 21 total yards (23 passing -2 rushing). On the season the Bronco D is only allowing 4.67 points per game and an average of 117 total yards a game. There were several people who thought that either Bryan Station or Dunbar could possibly have a shot at ending the Douglass winning streak vs Lexington schools. However, after 3 games so far this season and Douglass already beating the Defenders 27-14 and with what has happened in the Bulldogs last two games it looks like another big win for the Broncos. The game will start at 6:30pm and will be on NFHS live feed.

My computer rating says Frederick Douglass by 30. Wouldn't surprise me if Freddy D wins by more.

Another city cupcake. The only real competition is whether the PLD first string can score against the Bronco defense. When I tell you the defensive line for Douglass is loaded, I'm not joking. The pressure they apply is nuts, the way #18 QB for Lafayette was running for dear life each play was comical.

Dunbar parents were veryyy vocal on Facebook about their odds against Douglass after beating a 2A team 68-28 or something like that... Those parents aren't responding to posts about Dunbar vs Douglass anymore.

I said once (actually many times lol) and I'll say it again, this is probably the last time in a while that FDU will have a great chance in winning a "Chip". The talent as a whole will go do down a bit, not down as in will not to be competitive. They will still win out Lexington city schools, they just wont be a top contender with FT Highlands, Cov Cath, BG being in their class.

The talent as a whole? Can you name the feeder schools of FDHS *WITHOUT* googling? If you do, I am hard pressed to understand why you would say the "talent as a whole" is going down.

Keep in mind, these past and present D-1 Douglass players were among the first players at Douglass, there wasn't an established two deep for a Ty Bryant, Dane Key, Davis Joyner etc. to break into as freshmen. They were starting out of the gate because there weren't that many players.

All those freshman reps, and all that early game experience paid off well for them. But these current freshmen and sophs DO have to earn playing time behind future collegiate athletes here, so maybe you don't think more waves of big time players are there at Douglass, or their feeder schools, because you aren't hearing their names in varsity contests.

Further, if you are familiar with the Louisville Chargers, 5 of their 12u players are from Lexington, and are districted for Douglass, so there's that (If you follow youth sports).

And those players you mentioned above, were Leestown, Station and Hayes middle product and last time I checked redistricting, those did not feed to the farm.

So technically you are wrong, but its not a big deal.

EJ Hayes Middle also feeds into Douglass, although it does also send kids to Henry Clay as well.

With the way the academy system is set up, kids that also live in other Fayette County attendance areas can go to another school if they apply or qualify for a program that's offered at one of the other schools.  Also you have the Carter G. Woodson component where all of those high school kids play for Douglass as well, no matter where they live in the county.

Thank you for the info and yes I know about these academies, scapa, pre-engineering, mstc etc etc, but you also got to agree that some of those are fudged to get certain athletes in their program lol.

I feel that there are some "academies" that are polar opposites of others in regards to requirements & honestly it needs to be tightened up.

Dunbar with MSTC, Henry Clay with the Academy & Lafayette with SCAPA & the Pre-Engineering are quite a bit more rigorous with testing to even qualify for the program, than Tates Creeks IB program, Bryan Station with the IT program & I don't know enough about Douglass to speak on their academies.

Douglass 49-14.

Yeah, as I assumed, you weren't aware of Douglass' feeder schools. Hayes, Crawford and then Carter G Woodson academy is housed inside of Douglass.

Now that you are aware of their feeder schools, just know there won't be a drop off in talent anytime soon, aside from a handful of Fayette Co. students that are beginning to attend Woodford and Bourbon Counties.

At 2nd glance, I noticed you refer to Douglass as "FDU". Interesting. Not to mention you asked if "Station Middle, Winburn Middle SHOULD feed to BSHS, but do they?" You are all over the place, aren't you?

I know more than you think I do lol... I know the cisco, donte, mike etc etc so stop it please. Oh and in your knowledge of feeders, please do tell where station and winburn feeds to (without applying for any of the academies)??? Oh and hayes all of a sudden is not a Clay feeder? interesting.
