Reds at Brewers (7/8 - 7/11)

Recommended Posts

No umpire in MLB is worse than Angel Hernandez.  The guy tonight was consistently inconsistent, but he wasn't as bad as Sadek, who sees things from only one side of the plate, made him out to be.

Good news is that we don't have to listen to him for the next two games.  Tomorrow is some YouTube "exclusive" and FOX gets Saturday's game.  So is the YouTube game available to us "common Joes" on our computer???

The Milwaukee fans obviously didn't get the memo about this being such a monumental series - lots of empty seats.  I'm sure that it will pick up for Friday and the weekend, but the Cincinnati sheep would have turned out like it was Game 7 of the World Series.

What we saw last night are the things that Reds fans need to be concerned about. Clutch hitting is very spotty on this team and the bullpen is even worse. The Reds success is all on the shoulders of the starting pitching. The Reds have to get leads and keep the Brewers stud relievers in the bullpen.

  • theguru changed the title to Reds at Brewers (7/8 - 7/11)

Tonight (Friday) was the Brewers turn to complain about the umpiring.

They were on the receiving end of several bad calls/rulings.

Refreshing listening to the honesty expressed by the "neutral"  commentators on YouTube.  More of the same tomorrow on FOX.  So nice, not having to listen to John Sadek gush over every Reds hit or big league defensive play and play 20 questions with his color man.   They did a very objective job.

The only big umpiring call in last night's game was the double play call at 2nd base. Even though that is certainly a questionable call I am glad the umpires called it the way they did. The way Adames went into 2nd base with his hand up in the air and then rolling into Farmer 10' past the bag should never happen. That is the type of play where players get their knee blown out. If you watch that play closely, Farmer is lucky his foot was not planted when Adames rolled into him behind the bag.  Even if the umpires don't call it that way, all the Brewers gain is a player at 1st with 2 outs and trailing 2-0, so no way to say that changed the result in the game.
