Perry (6'4", 200 lbs) is currently rated as the #6 prospect in Kentucky by 247 Sports. He plays all over the field on both sides of the ball, but colleges seem to be eyeing him mostly as a linebacker at the next level.

Boston College

Quick question for the ones that have knowledge.... Does a student- athlete(s) usually/ normally gets an offer if they have a good showing at one of the universities showcase camps? Regardless of what class (ie. 2022, 2023, 2024 and so on)?

To me, if an athlete is offered during camp, they have been following him/her for a while.  Seeing them workout in person may be just to confirm the offer.  I would say it is somewhat rare that an offer would come just  be presented out of the blue.

I would also add that exposure for prospects is key!  With the amount of resources available for athletes now a days, (social media, film, camps, etc.) they more the prospect can get involved in, the better.

Caleb Perry is a great example of this and Congratulations to the young man!!!

It doesn't hurt, but unfortunately there are a lot of variables that ultimately goes into what schools offer and when they do so.

I think camping at specific schools is probably the single best way to get noticed, but there are only so many opportunities for schools and when you camp there you are only going to be noticed by that one specific school unless they give a friendly "you may want to check this kid out" if they know they are full or the kid may not be a priority worth pursuing.

The camp circuit casts a wider net and lends itself to a great pool of competition to compare against. The major drawback is there are a lot of "Tshirt 5's" who do not see their measurables correlate to success when pads are on.

Film and highlights still have a place, but most coaches only use it as an instrument when scouting or as part of their evaluation process. Film can be mis-leading because if a coach is recruiting based on a system or style that player doesn't run... or that player is playing inferior competition it is hard to get a calibration.

On top of all this, "Supply and Demand" also plays a role. Why extend a scholarship if that kid would commit to a preferred walk-on? Additionally, if two kids grade the exact same or similar, a coach may prioritize one from a "pipeline" school or a school with a bigger fish they may want to gain leverage with.

Long story short... when it comes to recruiting... camping is a big deal but a prospect always does better if they can create as many opportunities for themselves as possible to get noticed.
