In the Bulldogs' first game in almost a month, 14 players crack the scoring column.

This was only Male's 8th game for the whole season.     

Male is very good and Brown is very bad so expected result.

To be fair, Brown has around 100 boys. They do have outstanding academic programs, and the kids are wicked smart.

Right, if the game was pop quizzes they would have won or been close. Lol.

Really sad that they had to run up the score? You would think they would not do that. Hope they get beat in the region!!!!

Brown is not a good basketball team...just stating it as it is. They're 3-8, and their only wins were over Cloverport, Portland Christian, and Whitefield Academy, which are all tiny schools. Brown is a K-12 and has 102 boys in the high school. It's a magnet school for "Self-Directed Learning" and it offers more AP courses than 99% of the schools in the state. If I'm not mistaken, they also have a heavy focus on musical art. To put a finer point on it, Brown is a school that serves students that, in general, are not the most interested in participating in sports, or at very least are not the type to generally focus too hard on the sports they do play.

On the flipside, Male is a huge school with almost 2000 students in grades 9-12, and they are perennially one of the top basketball programs in the state. This year they're top 10, or even top 5, depending on who you're talking to. They have a D1 commit in senior Cameron Pope (Jacksonville State) and sophomore Kaleb Glenn who already holds offers from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Iowa State and WKU. Additionally, as stated above, this was only Male's eighth game this season...only their eighth opportunity to go out and compete on the hardwood against another team. Coach Haworth would have been doing his players a major disservice leading up to the regional tournament if he wasn't giving his starters absolutely all the opportunity they possibly could to get in live, in-game playing time.

Male didn't choose to be in the same district as Brown. Male didn't choose to have their season truncated by JCPS. Male didn't choose to have 7 of their 13 regular season games cancelled by COVID. This is a product of an unfortunate district tournament pairing, and an even more unfortunate circumstance involving a schedule completely whacked by a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.

If there's any lesson to be taken away from this one, it's that....maybe Brown should put some serious consideration to not competing in KHSAA district basketball competition.

This happens frequently in 1st round District games. You're gonna wish a lot of ill will on teams all over the state, boys and girls?

Earlier this year, Coach Haile at Hendo beat up on Muhlenberg Co. 82-17. Hmmm.

Male was also a favorite to win last year's Sweet 16, which was cancelled. The OP stated 14 players scored in the game. It is tournament time. Coach Haworth and the Bulldogs did nothing wrong.

Should Male play keep-away with the basketball for the entire game? ...practice passing? Should they be playing backups the entire time and not let their starters (who up until that point had only played in seven games) get any playing time in a game that is only days away from the Sweet 16...and when almost every loss from this point on in the season means your season is over.

You be the coach @The Flea Market. Tell us exactly what you would have done if you were in charge of the Male basketball team and you were paired up with Brown.

Soooooooo....I can't help but notice that you didn't share your game plan @The Flea Market...

But I would really REALLY like to know, since you think this was a showing of terrible sportsmanship by Male, what you would have done if you had the clipboard and you were Male's coach. I'll patiently await your response.
