Boyle County 61 Garrard County 56

Recommended Posts

Garrard came out and gave the Rebels all they could handle and shot the ball well.  Its the 3rd game in a row that the Rebels have came out and shot the ball poorly and free throw shooting as well.  This probably the poorest the Rebels have played this year.  Not good playing that way this close to the district tournament.

Garrard

Turnovers 14

This really hurt, especially a handful of late turnovers. On the whole, Garrard played a pretty solid game, even without shooting it real well. Luke Imfeld was the difference maker for Boyle with a couple of huge late shots.

In addition to the game thread, last night was referee Mark Bryant's last game as a basketball official. He's been refereeing (and umpiring baseball) for 29 years and always did a good job. Lots of good officials in the 12th Region.

I do think the coaching staff "can" use this in a positive manner to refocus their ball team before their semi-final rematch against either Garrard or DCA.  They should know now they can't just show up and advance, which should help them regain a sense of urgency in practice.

Boyle better get it back going, or it could be another quick exit for them this season.  Lincoln, Pulaski, East and West Jessamine are all peaking and playing their best ball of the season.

Agreed. Was talking with someone last night about who the favorite was. I've thought Boyle all season (and they may still be) but the margin is super thin. There are probably six teams that can win it and it wouldn't be a surprise.

Sounds like Garrard played their best defensive game. I agree the competition is pretty level in the 45th and during district play its one and done. Boyle should be favored but if any team has a bad performance anyone could end your run. Best time of the year and the region tourney should be exciting.

I'm hearing Boyle is not a lock for the #1 seed. Is this true?

The seeds are locked now.  If Boyle had lost last night, I believe they would've fell to #2 seed and Danville would've been #1 via tiebreak.
