B-Ball-fan
The top 20 ranked Dixie Heights Red Colonels traveled to Mason County tonight, and got it handed to them by the Royals who shot the lights out connecting on 11 3’s, and ending Dixie’s 8 game winning streak, and increasing their own winning streak to 10 games. Mason County came out on fire knocking down 3’s like it ain’t no thing, but the Colonels kept their composure led by Keirnan Geraci who was having a career night, and the 1st quarter ended only down 6 after the initial blow handed to them by the Royals. The 2nd period saw Dixe make the statement that they were there to play, and managed to only be down by 3 by halftime. In the 3rd period with everything going the Royals way and extending the lead, we saw the Colonels begin to rush things a bit and losing their focus. Nonetheless after being down by 13 late in the 3rd they cut it back to 6 with 4 seconds to go until Mason nailed a long 3 to end the quarter pushing the lead back up to 9 to end the quarter. The 4th wasn’t anymore kind to the Colonels, and things just kept getting worse for them as is indicated by the final margin. At the end of 1 it was Mason up 21-15 Halftime Mason 36-33 At the end of 3 Mason 57-48 Final 82-65 Both sophomore Terrell Henry and junior Nate Mitchell had big nights with 25, and 24 points respectively for the winning Royals. Senior Anwar Perry also connected with 12. Keiran Geraci for the Red Colonels had a big night of his own leading all scorers with 28 in their losing effort.
mcpapa
No accident that Mason County has gone on a nice run as Nate Mitchell, who averaged 1.6 points per game on last season’s senior-laden squad, has come into his own. 25.5 ppg over the last half dozen games.

My first time seeing Mason County was last night on the YouTubes. I was really impressed with Mitchell, and it's obvious that Henry has greatly progressed from last year to this. Royals ran some really simple offensive sets with a lot of floor-spreading and Dixie couldn't defend them. Coach Kirk has done a nice job with this club.
GeneraLee
Not sure I have seen a team pressure the ball as hard as Mason Co. has for the most of the season. I think Mitchell and Henry took it to heart being left of the region preview. Royals are chugging away!
