Evangel Christian is a small K-12 school in Louisville near the Hikes Point neighborhood.

Evangel Christian has hired Western High School's heas coach DeMarcus Smith to start the football program for the Eagles.

At current, Evangel's only KHSAA member teams are volleyball and boys basketball.

Great! More teams the better.

Evangel Christian has played football on two separate stints over the years. They were 2-9 in 1976 and 0-9 in 1977. The program restarted in 2002 and lasted until 2008, compiling a 3-52 record (a forfeit win over Beth Haven in 2002 and two more victories over Beth Haven in 2004).

Didn't know they weren't playing anymore. 

Evangel Christian's new stadium is going to be located behind the Evangel World Prayer Center at 6900 Billtown Road out in the Fern Creek neighborhood. Football field, soccer field, baseball/softball field and basketball/volleyball fieldhouse all in one location.

Are they approved by KHSAA to compete in football this fall? Will they be in a district?

This is probably the best document for what you are asking. Evangel isn't shown on the document but they are playing, although ineligible for postseason. Caverna, Fulton City, Jackson County, and Jenkins have also chosen to play as independents and not participate in the playoffs.

Correct. No playoffs. Notwithstanding some kind of a situation where a current district team withdraws from district competition and then Evangel applies and is permitted by the BOC to replace the withdrawn team, Evangel will be omitted from the playoffs until the 2023 season when the KHSAA's next re-alignment takes effect.

I can't imagine Evangel isn't going to be a 1A team. The latest data I've found for their enrollment is the '17/'18 school year, and they only had 35 total students in grades 9-12 at that point. The presumably have been working on increasing their enrollment since purchasing the former Melbourne Heights Baptist Church on Taylorsville Road and moving the school to that location beginning this school year.
