Owensboro got a fight out of Apollo in the first half, before pulling away for a 50-13 blowout win. Ethan Avery paced the Red Devils (1-0) with 162 yards rushing, while Gavin Wimsatt balanced that out with nearly 150 yards through the air.

The win secured the first leg of the city championship for Owensboro. The second leg comes up this week with Daviess County (1-0) making the short drive to Rash Stadium. The Panthers worked over Ohio County last Friday, 41-16, with a team total of 220 rushing yards behind big Jon Nalley and the rest of the Daviess County o-line.

Owensboro is easily the more talented team, but another slow start could make for an interesting night against a capable opponent.

Red Devils continue to roll in this one.

@Brown does Ethan Avery have an older brother who used to play RB for the Red Devils?  Thought I remembered that name around 2015 or so.

None that I know of.  There is another Avery on this years’ team, but he is a transfer from Newburgh (Evansville) Castle.

Daviess is a huge school with a big line always.  Great back in Parm and QB is back.  Owensboro offense looked flawless first game out.  I see it about like last year.

O 50-17

Wimsatt to Tinsley for TD.

O 7-0

Wimsatt 50 yard run to the house....it’s not fair!

O 14-0

Just a junior, too. He's got all the tools.

O 14-6. Short field for DC after trickery play call gets INT.  I’m not sure I understand that call as O was unstoppable.

O drives again, Wimsatt keeper for TD.

O 21-6

DC with a score before half.

O 21-13

O fumbled on 2 yard line going in for aTD in first quarter.

half

DC 1st possession 3rd and long bomb TD, very nice QB for DC.

tied 21-21

At 21-6 and O in red zone I thought this was going to be a running clock.  Last 2 possessions have been clutch for DC.  Huge o line and solid QB.

TD DC

DC 28`21
