I love NASCAR Ricky Bobby!

From NBCSports and NASCAR:

Unless health conditions go down North Carolina will allow Charlotte Motor Speedway to host the May 24 Coca-Cola 600.

Also, NASCAR is compiling for the resumption of the season. NASCAR is expected to resume the Cup season May 17 at Darlington Raceway, starting a stretch of five races in two weeks.

No fans will be at those events.

If I could pick one thing to come back it would be race cars.

I'm not typically a big Nascar guy but I was actually enjoying the races this season. If nothing else, the last 50 or so laps of a race are great.

Ehh better than nothing. Maybe this will kickstart other sports to come back sooner than later and contactless sports like nascar and golf can probably lead the way in showing how to safely put on events. Not a nascar guy, never will be, still won’t watch when it comes back despite being the only sport playing. But I am excited it’s back.

The more I watch, the more I listen, the more I learn. Everything in NASCAR is always about winning and improvement, I love it!

Horse Racing back on the 11th, with out fans. Another small but needed step in the return of sports.

For what it's worth, I have actually enjoyed the iRacing the last few weeks.

It is official, NASCAR announced Thursday that it will resume racing May 17 with the Cup Series racing at Darlington Raceway.

It will be the first of seven races among three series between May 17-27. No fans will be allowed at any of those events.

From NBCSports:

No practice.

No qualifying (in most cases).

Just go and race.

NASCAR announced Thursday that there will be no practice before the Cup, Xfinity and Truck races scheduled for May 17-27 at Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. There also will be no qualifying at those races except for the May 24 Coca-Cola 600. Each event will be held in one day, allowing teams to return home afterward and not stay in a hotel.

That is going to be really interesting and I would expect to see some surprises.

I think what NASCAR is doing is brilliant. Darlingtom is a track that will provide a lot of drama. Not to mention they're showing up to race with no track time! There is a reason its called the "Track to Tough to Tame"

Agree a million percent.

Additionally, the no track time part of it has me extra excited thinking some drivers that don't have the same level of equipment may be on a more even playing field and we could see some surprises in the race.
