Various 10th Region media outlets recently tapped George Rogers Clark as the favorite to cut down the Region Tournament nets in 2020. It's easy to understand why. Josh Cook's Cardinals have hovered around the top two spots in the region rankings all season long. With Bourbon County not being in the tournament due to a District loss to Montgomery County, GRC seems to be the most talented team in the field. Additionally, the Cardinals and their brand-new, state-of-the-art arena are playing host to the 10th Region's final dance of the season.

Clark boasts the most wins of the field's 8 teams & they provide a balanced attack. Four players average double-digits in scoring, led by sensational sophomore guard Jerone Morton (16.6 ppg) & junior wing Jared Wellman (15.5 ppg). Burly senior big man Lincoln Bush might be the difference maker, scoring 14.5 ppg & grabbing 13.2 rpg. Fellow senior K.J. Rucker averages 11.2 ppg.

Jason Hinson is back on the sidelines at Augusta, and his Panthers are led by the coach's son: sophomore guard Kason Hinson (18.6 ppg). He is supplemented by a pair of senior swingplayers: Preston Philpot (12.7 ppg) & Cameron White (11.5). The Panthers experienced a slump late in the regular season, losing their first 7 games in the month of February. But Hinson collected his squad and very nearly came away with a 39th District crown.

Who comes out on top: Cards or Panthers?

Just glad we are playing at home. Hope everyone will enjoy our new arena.

It's not hard to look at the stats and see why one would think that GRC should run away with this one but the game has to be played to determine the winner. Augusta hasn't played in the region tournament since their run in 2016. This isn't that team by any stretch but this team will come to play and if GRC does win, they'll have to earn it. I know no one believes in his team more than head coach Jason Hinson. And with that belief passed on to the players, the sky is the limit. I know the Brossart/Robertson game looks like a good one but don't sleep on game two, it's the post season in Kentucky, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!!!

I just hope Augusta doesn't get lost in this gym, GRC wins BIG.

Agree, GRC has to stay focused and take care of business.

Clark County gets the All-A draw in this year's regional tourney. Augusta will play hard, but in the end will have to settle for the sympathy clap.

Panthers 48
