March 2, 20206 yr I don't know how the NET ratings work. Looking at RPI, UK has 7 quadrant 1 wins and Duke only has 3. If we look at losses outside quadrant 1, Duke has 3 and UK only has 2. UK has 11 wins versus quadrants 2 and 3 and Duke only has 8, one of the lowest totals in the top 25. Duke has a lot of quadrant 3 wins. Stop looking at RPI. It is useless, and not used as a measuring tool anymore. The NET is now the sorting tool, but it is not used to measure a school based on it's specific NET ranking. It is used to measure how you performed against the NET quadrants while the committee is selecting. It is also a predictive metric as it has been explained, but of course, the NCAA doesn't release the formula used in any detail. Ultimately it is used to judge your schedule and how the teams you played performed. What was your record against Q1-Q4, where those games were played and how that stacks up against the teams you are positioning against for each seed line.
March 2, 20206 yr Does anyone know the formula for the NET rankings? Obviously computers aren't bias, but this formula certainly seems flawed. Similar to the flaws in the Cantrall Ratings for high school. That system has Ashland’s 30-0 boys team not even rated in the state’s top 25 teams. Doesn’t matter that they have wins over Butler, Warren Central, Clark County, Trinity, Woodford County, Mason County, Madison Central as examples that they are better than his ratings are showing.

Saw that with the Cantrall rankings. With a 72.9 Ashland likely isn't even close to the top 25 lol. Sounds like bulletin board material to me. But that's for another thread.

Are the quadrants in the RPI different than the quadrants in the NET? I could only find quadrant results looking at RPI. Where can you see the NET quadrant results?
