Brossart wins the daily double with the win over Scott in Taylor Mill.

 

Being a District 37 seeding game, the Lady Stangs complete the sweep over both of their district rivals, Scott and Campbell, locking up the district top seed, which in the three team district gives them an automatic berth in the 10th Region Tournament come March. The win is Brossart's 14th against a single setback.

 

Brossart Junior Marie Kiefer led all scorers with 27 points, with 19 of them coming in the second half. Marie now draws to within three points of joining the Bishop Brossart girls' 1,000 Points Club. The Lady Stangs will next face Harrison County this coming Saturday evening in Cynthiana.

 

Sofia Allen led the Lady Eagles with 11, and Payton Fields netted 10.

Only a 3 team district (with Silver Grove closing), so the top seed automatically advances, which really was the case even when it was a 4 or 5 team district. I can't remember a time when the 1 vs 4/5 game was ever even close (at least in most sports...baseball might be the exception). Really, the 2 vs 3 game was the exciting game (except for the final), and that really won't change. At least now you don't have to sit through the 1 vs 4 blowout.

Scott is really struggling without Meredith. But they seemed to hang with Brossart in this game? I was not there, sluggish game for Brossart?

Brossart had a few girls battling colds but all played. Scott’s press was working well in the first half and they were getting lay ups. With second half adjustments and better defense once Brossart took the lead midway through the third quarter they never gave it back up.

If Meredith was playing they would definitely be a different team. If healthy I thought she would be right there as 10th region player.
