1. Bourbon County (10-2) - The Colonels had a very good week in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic. They defeated Madison Central 53-46, then split game with top 10 caliber teams in the state, defeating Collins 60-58 and losing to Madisonville-North Hopkins 81-71. Bourbon County will face Frederick Douglass in the 3rd place game on December 30. The Colonels senior dominated team appears to be their best team in a long time. Amirion Joyce and Nakyir Joyce lead the Colonel's high flying office and pressure defense.

2. George Rogers Clark (7-3) - The Cardinals had a strong showing in the Central Bank Classic at LCA. The knocked off West Jessamine 78-74 behind Jerone Morton's 24 points. After dropping a 77-75 heartbreaker to state power McCracken County, the Cardinals bounced back with a 48-43 win over Lincoln County, who is one of the top teams in the 12th region. George Rogers Clark's three losses on the year have all come against top 25 caliber teams.

3. Bishop Brossart (9-2) - The Mustangs appear to be clicking on all cylinders, having won 8 games in a row. They won the Henry County invitational by knocking off Franklin County (71-61), Boone County (74-58), and South Oldham (67-62). South Oldham is one of the top teams in the 8th region. Carson Schirmer and Ethan Eilerman each scored 20 points in the championship game victory over South Oldham. Bishop Brossart is shooting an impressive 51% from the floor, 42% from three point land and 74% from the charity stripe.

4. Robertson County (10-2) - Robertson County seems to be slipping a bit after starting out the season so strong. The competition has heated up a bit and the Black Devils have not responded well. In the Gateway Holiday Classic they beat Christian Academy-Louisville 79-72, but then dropped games to Dixie Heights (60-58) and Covington Holy Cross. Covington Holy Cross seemed to be getting whatever shots they wanted againt the Black Devils. Robertson County has a chance to make a statement when they host George Rogers Clark on January 2.

5. Campbell County (7-5) - The Camels lost a heartbreaker to Waggner 63-62, but do move up a spot in the rankings due Montgomery's County's rough week. Dane Hegyi (19), Garrett Beiting (16) and Aydan Hamilton (15) all scored in double figures in the loss to Waggner. The Camels play district rival Bishop Brossart on January 3.

6. Montgomery County (7-4) - The Indians went only 1-2 in their own Gateway Holiday Classic tournament. They were shorthanded in a surprising 78-54 loss to Dixie Heights. They did blow out Christian Academy - Louisville 64-39 but did not look sharp in a 65-59 loss to Knott County Central. With a new coach and some new players, the Indians are still looking to gel and find their identity.

7. Mason County (5-5) - The Royals went 1-2 in the Gateway Holiday Classic. After being limited to 2 points in a 57-46 loss to Woodford County, Alex Schalch put up 20 points and 7 rebounds in a 66-62 loss to Knott County Central. Mason County then beat Christian Academy-Louisville to capture 7th place. Freshman Tyrell Henry is a promising youngster for the Royals.

8. Augusta (6-7) - The Panthers dropped all three contests in the RW Baird Holiday Hoops Classic. Losses to Mercer County (57-56) and Middlesboro (44-42) were competitive. Augusta lost to Danville by a wide margin (82-62), but Danville is one of the top teams in the 12th region. Augusta hosts Robertson County in a big 10th region matchup on January 3.

9. Scott (3-7) - The Eagles split games in the Pikeville Invitational, losing to Pikeville 78-65 and defeating Pike County Central 76-44. Grant Profitt (23 points, 7 rebounds) and Kyle Huelsman (22 points and 9 rebounds) led the way in the win over Pike County Central. The Eagles continue to rely on those two players to carry the load.

10. Pendleton County (4-6) - The Wildcats did not play last week. They maintain the #10 spot in the rankings for the third consecutive week. Tredyn Thomas is averaging 20.6 points per game. Pendleton County is only shooting 29.9% as a team from three point land.

11. Paris (3-7) - The Greyhounds schedule finally got a little easier and Paris responded by going 2-1 in the Williamstown Holiday Classic. They cruised past Burgin 75-28 and lost to Breathitt County 77-60. Ricqiece Washington put 25 points in a 76-55 victory over McCreary Central. It is going to be tough for Paris to compete in the rugged 40th district.

12. Calvary Christian (5-4) - The Cougars did not play this week, but move up a few spots due to the poor performance of some teams that were in front of them. Their only two region games have both been respectable. They dropped a 1 point game to Pendleton County way back on December 3 and played Campbell County within 15 points on December 9.

13. Nicholas County (1-8) - The Bluejackets have dropped 8 games in a row. They competed well in a 81-76 loss to Walton-Verona, but were not good in a 74-54 loss to Wolfe County.

14. Harrison County (1-10) - The Thoroughbreds continue to drop in the rankings. They went 0-3 in the Henry County Invitational, losing to South Oldham (77-48), Western Hills (83-62) and Henry County (66-61). Their only win this season came back on December 13 over Nicholas County.

15. Bracken County (4-8) - The Polar Bears dropped both games in the their holiday showcase event. Blake Reed scored 38 points (including 7 three pointers) in a narrow 75-74 loss to Wolfe County. Bracken County's cold shooting (24 of 61) doomed them in a 74-67 loss to Carroll County.

16. St. Patrick (2-7) - The Saints were blown out by Carroll County (83-59) and Walton Verona (84-44). Jaylan Rigdon led St. Patrick in scoring in both games.

Key Games of the Week:

I'm pretty sure the Brossart-Campbell game has been held at Campbell County Middle School in the past. Is that still the case?

It is held at the Campbell County Middle School.

This game traditionally draws a huge crowd, and is the closest thing there is to duplicating a regional tournament atmosphere in a regular season game.
