December 25, 20196 yr My 7-year old said he wanted to go caroling. So at around 6:30 we carried candles and walked up and down the street, knocking on doors, and singing carols to people. 100% of the people on our street smiled and acted like they appreciated it. In a world where everyone is so terrified to show any kindness that exposes a personal value, it was fun to see the smiles from our neighbors. We may do this every year. No one goes caroling anymore.
December 26, 20196 yr We had carolers for a couple of years about 20 years ago. Loved it! Definitely an old school lost art!

That is wonderful! You gave your son a chance to give joy to others.
December 26, 20196 yr That's a great tradition to start with him. My nephew (26) spent yesterday caroling at as many ALFs as he and his cousins (the other side of the family) could get to.
December 28, 20196 yr We started caroling 3 years ago. The first year it was just a bunch of us walking around knocking on doors and singing. The second year we built a sleigh and pulled Santa around. Kids would come sit in his lap. It was a blast. This year we added a gingerbread house that blew snow out.
