stick1
I have to give props to my old baseball coach and offensive coordinator when I was in high school at Lawrence Co. Gary is Russell's defensive coordinator and year in year out has done an amazing job with the Red Devils defense! You see all of these other coaches around the states name being thrown around about being so good but this is one guy that hasn't gotten the credit he deserves. A couple of years ago he almost knocked off Haddix and company who nobody could slow down except his defense. Last year it was Owensboro Cath. This year it was Mercer Co that he held in check and we all know how bad they have thumped people this year. He's done it to Belfry a couple of times. Had Russell not run into the hand they got dealt there is no doubt in my mind he helps lead the Devils to back to back titles! I just wanted to tip my hat to just another outstanding assistant in KY that deserves any props he gets!

I'm thinking he needs to give a clinic to Coach Archer at UK, and teach him a few things. He's a classy guy to boot. :thumb:

Cubster
Not many coaches study film and put in the time and effort that Coach Morris does year in and year out. His defense kept the Devils in it till the end today.

NE KY Zebra
Just ANOTHER example of what a great job Gary Morris does. a few years back, Mason County had an INCREDIBLE offense...in two games against Russell, they scored 20 points. Last year, O Cath, again, a great offense kept virtually in check. Then today, according to my calculations, Mercer scored more than 50 points in half of their games this season and over 60 in 5 of the 14, today, 15. Gary Morris can develop a defensive plan with the best of them and really to the kids what he wants. But lets remember, the kids execute it. As far as helping UK....ummmmmm Coach Brooks, Gary isn't really that good... nothing to see here...lol Fantastic job by Coach Morris, Coach McGlone and all of the staff as well as Russell players. I am very proud of all of you. With people telling you that you didnt have a chance and you would get beat by 3 touchdowns, you made everyone stop and admire a fantastic display of talent and heart. That is a lesson to be learned by many and remembered by all.
UKCATSFAN
:sssh: :sssh: :sssh: We don't want to loose Coach Morris. In all seriousness, Coach Gary Morris is the BEST defensive coach in the entire state. If I had 1 choice of any coach, it would be Morris. He would be just as good of an offensive coach if need be. The man sees the game as well as anybody I've ever seen. It was a complete honor to have him coach a brother of mine. I was amazed week in and week out for the past 4 years. The man is the very best at what he does and I wish him nothing but success in the future. I hope he stays at Russell because I think he's most definately the next HC at Russell if he chooses. The guy is just amazing in his ability to prepare a plan and in preparing his boys for the task at hand.

I could not agree with you more very nicely said and for the other guy that thinks he couldn't out do the D coach at UK than tell me why he has had Coaching offers for other collages?????? And I know this cause I know Coach Morris better than some on here.....
Idoc
If anyone doubted Coach Morris' ability before this final game, they are believers now. Red Devil fans have known he is one of the best Coaches in the state and this game will undoubtedly make believers out of all others. I am sure Coach Morris would be the first to point out that RHS has an awesome coaching staff that works together very hard week in and week out. In addition, the players have to execute the game plan. However, this takes us back to the coaching staff at RHS which does a super job at relating to the players. We have a program and Coach Morris is a big part of it. And by the way, he is a first class person and an even bigger asset to our Middle School as an administrator. He is adding to growing proof that some good things can come out of W.V. (like Coach McGlone and LKG).

It was actually a compliment.

Mr. Freeze
Rumor has it that Coach McGlone is retiring from teaching in December to spend more time with his wife. Coach is a legend on the field but is one of the best people I have ever met in my life off the field. I've heard that he would still like to coach though. Coach Morris will be a great replacement for McGlone one day when he decides to hang it up. I wish Coach McGlone and his wife the best and ask all of you to prayer for them as Mrs. McGlone recovers from cancer.
