From a talent standpoint, Keller will be better than Taylor.

It'll be close. This Keller guy was leading the NCAA in passing or something at ASU until he got injured. Although Taylor is a great QB IMO, I'm not too worried about a downgrade at QB next year.

HSSB and Hard Rock Fan,

Im not sure if you guys are aware of it but the huskers have Virginia Tech on the schedule for 08 in Lincoln and 09 in Blacksburg. Also have a home an home with UCLA in 2011-2012. Also got one together with Tennessee way down the road in 2016 and 2017. Steve Pederson has done a great job with the schedule.

I was not aware. I only find out the schedules one year at a time. And this is the earliest I've ever known of next year's schedule. I'm looking forward to the UT games, even though it's 10 years away. That's only an hour and a half drive, so I might get to go to that game in Knoxville. I have a 2 month old son and he'll be around 10 by then, hopefully I can take him down there to watch it.

Everybody around the program and I believe even Taylor himself has said that Keller can make all the throws that Zac himself cant. I doubt he is as tough or is the leader that Taylor is but from a physical stand point he will be an upgrade. Taylor is one of my favorite players, without him NU would be pretty bad.

No way Im missing the game when they go to Knoxville. I'll be trying my hardest to get to the Wake game this coming year and definently to Blacksburg in 09!

Question for you Husker guys. Have you completely adjusted to Nebraska's change in offensive philosophy?

I still route for them, but when they were running the triple option, I was a huge fan.

Im all for it and glad it has happened. I loved them when they ran the option but its hard to recruit top notch talent when thats all you do. The West Coast pro style offense is much more attractive to the elite recruits. I love it personally. That playbook is awfully tough to learn and get down tho, the thing weighs 8 pounds!

No question Sam has all of the throws, however, Zac has been great for Nebraska and there has to be something about Keller that caused his team-mates in ASU to turn on him. As excited as I am about him under center next year, I'm still a little skeptical.

Mostly.

I loved the Huskers when they were just blowing guys off the ball and letting Tommie, Brook, Eric, Turner, etc. run the option. However, as time went on, it was killing recruiting and we were never able to come back when we got behind.

I like the new offense, as it is now, with great balance. I do wish the Blackshirts would get back to their dominant days of old. Their linebacking corps is quite good, especially Stew Bradley and Ruud, but their defensive backfield is horrendous (except for Shanle, but he is a step slow in coverage). I miss the dominating defenses of days gone by.

I see your reason for caution, but Ive heard nothing but good things about him since he has been at NU. He seems to get along with everyone and from time to time Corey Mckeon will mess with him calling him ASU extroadinare and sometimes they give him crap for leaving all the hot ASU girls but thats bout it from what I can tell.

I'm only 27. My history of NU football only goes back to the very early '90s. I "grew up" watching the Huskers run all over teams. That's what I loved about it. I think a team that can constantly run for 400+ yards against anybody, even if they're in the top 5, is a dominant team. And that's why I started loving them. I, too, agree that a change was needed. Although I miss the days of a huge line with guys like Frazier, Phillips, Green, Frost, Crouch, Berringer, Schlensenger or the Mackavias behind the line, I think changing to the west coast offense will actually help them in years to come. Now Callahan can start recruiting the big time players at WR and QB and they'll want to play for him, because he knows what it takes to get to the NFL and to the Super Bowl. I told a coworker last year right before he watched the bowl game that he was be shocked because he hadn't seen NU air it out. I was looking forward to this season and overall they haven't disappointed. We shouldn't have lost to Texas or OSU, but we can still make a BCS game. So I'm still happy about the season.

Nice schedule, you could tell right away it wasn't an SEC OOC schedule.

They can't afford a weak OOC schedule with all the awlful teams in the BIG 12 North. And honestly USC is the only tough OOC game on the schedule. Wake Forest has one good year and everyone is ready to crown them a power.

I'm not sure who your team is, but NU's OOC schedule is a lot tougher than Michigan or Louisville. I'm not saying Wake Forest will dominate for years to come, but how do you know they won't? Every good team has to have a start somewhere.

Wake Forest is on the verge of a BCS game, and Nebraska goes there in game #2....and it's not a hard game? Maybe it won't be, maybe it will, but it certainly is a quality non-Conference game.

Wake Forest's record over the past 3 years:

2003 - 5-7

2004 - 4-7

2005 - 4-7

Yes this year they have only lost 2 but they really haven't beaten anyone either. I am just not ready to put them in elite status after one good year against less then stellar opponents.
