I had never tried this but one of the series I am reading has a couple of the books, that are only available on CD. I started the first one today as I drove to work. At first I was like nope, won't work for me. By the time I got to work, I was like this will l work for me.

I listen to audio books all of the time. I quit obtaining them on CD, years ago, though. That's why God invented downloads, streaming, and smart phones.

I've only read one audiobook. A lot of people like it, but it's not for me.

I can get in the car, bring up an audio book on my phone, and I am to my destination in no time. It can be 5 miles or 500 miles. I can be stuck in traffic for hours. With a book on, it does not bother me.

 

I can't listen to music when I drive. Not even metal. It puts me right to sleep, especially when I am alone. I can't stand talk radio, anymore, either.

When I had a long commute, or took a long trip, I regularly listened to audiobooks. That though, was before satellite radio. Too many choices with few interruptions now, and it's probably been over 10 years since I've listened to an audiobook.

Like @swamprat, I appreciate a good audiobook, too. I recently finished a good one, by one of the crime podcasters I listen to.

 

Several years ago, I listened to “Empire of the Summer Moon,” about Quannah Parker, the last Comanche chief. I did so as I traveled through New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma, where the Comanche lived. Such a well-written and researched book, listening to it made the travel more memorable.
