Brewers tie it up by absolutely terrible defense by the Reds. Lorenzo has a grounder right to him and makes an underhanded throw to Votto that pulls him off the base. Reds shift so Dietrich can't get a grounder right past him and a grounder to Suarez and nobody covers second base. Little league baseball. This looks like a Giants giveaway game.

Votto gets pulled from the base on a high throw from Lorenzen. Was weird to see him with his left foot on the bag, though. Figured he'd be able to stretch further with the right foot on it. (At least that's the way I was always taught.)

 

Went back and looked and you are right. Sometimes Votto just don't know where he is at. He anticipated an easy play and was not prepared for a bad throw.

Today's game is a great example of the unpredictability of baseball on a game basis. Two starting pitchers with ERA's under two and both get blown up early. You would expect a 3-2 type game and it is 8-6 with plenty of at bats to go.

Peralta can only get one out in the inning. Four others reach base. Gives up 2 while he was still in there, then Hernandez allows another to score on the first batter he faces. Brewers have their first lead of the game at 9-8.

Reds can not get Perez and Arcia out today. The 7th and 8th hitters by the way. When Bell brought in Peralta in the game was over.

Cody Reed needs to be brought up for the Cubs series. Peralta should be relegated to mop up duty, if anything.

5 run 6th inning for the Brewers make it 11-8. This has all the makings of being a gut-punch game similar to some of the Giants games.

Reds must have slowest runners in baseball. We almost never score from second on a two out single. House puts up the stop sign all the time.
