May 12, 20197 yr UCLA and Lakers had a hard time hiring a coach. Does no one want to coach in LA? It’s not LA that they don’t like. At the end of the day LA is still probably at the top of the list of places where coaches want to end up, but there is so much disfunction in the Lakers organization and with UCLA the administration was having a hard time convincing people they were invested into basketball. If Doc Rivers decided to retire today, the Clippers wouldn’t have nearly the hard time the Lakers did finding a coach. So it’s not LA imo.

At the end of the day LA is still probably at the top of the list of places where coaches want to end up, but there is so much disfunction in the Lakers organization and with UCLA the administration was having a hard time convincing people they were invested into basketball. I know it’s not the city of LA but 2 of the most storied basketball teams in history have had trouble filling their positions. It truly shows how dysfunctional they both are right now.
