February 6, 20197 yr Since this may be the first time for possible severe weather this afternoon into the day on Thursday BGP is now in Severe Weather Alert Mode. As I expected last night the Marginal Risk Area has been expanded to around I-75. Also, western Kentucky is now under a Category 2 Slight Risk Area for strong to severe storms later today. A couple of severe storms may occur this afternoon but should become more probable after dark. The potential for damaging wind gusts and perhaps even a brief tornado exits as these storms interact with a stationary front that will move east-northeastward into central Kentucky which will begin moving slowly northward. Some marginal hail is also possible. NAM EHI for this afternoon 10 am to 7 pm EST The second chance for possible strong to severe storms should occur overnight into the day on Thursday. Mainly for those along the Ohio River. An isolated severe threat should continue with a line of storms along a cold front Thursday morning. The threats could include strong to locally damaging winds and perhaps a tornado or two. A marginal severe threat may continue through the late morning into early afternoon along the warm front across parts of southern Illinois and Indiana and northern Kentucky. NAM EHI from 1 am to 1 pm EST Thursday Some more information to refresh everyone's memory. Everyone be weather aware for today into Thursday. I try and update around lunchtime today.
February 6, 20197 yr I am glad I read the updates yesterday because I didn't jump quite as far out of my skin this morning when the booms started.

Damaging winds and some tornado risk will exist. For Thursday Scattered storms are likely to be ongoing Thursday morning. Some of these storms may have gusty winds or marginal hail. The greatest threat for severe storms will likely be during the 7 am-1 pm EST time frame. The Marginal Risk Area has been expanded slightly to include more of Kentucky.
February 7, 20197 yr Author Any updates nWo? Sorry I haven't been on to do any updates. I had to have a biopsy done today and I'm just now getting back online. Parts of Kentucky are in a Category 1 Marginal Risk Area for strong to severe storms this evening. The main threat looks to be a damaging wind gust or two. An organized squall line currently extends from southern Illinois into northwest Arkansas. Individual storm elements along the line are moving northeastward at 45 to 50 mph. Occasionally they show bowing storms than consistently have a risk of locally strong/damaging wind gust. Here is the simulate NAM radar from 4 pm today to 4 am EST Friday morning.
