Simon Kenton 60 Walton-Verona 57

This is pretty much exactly what I predicted with Bonne out for WV. The teams that will beat WV this year are the ones that can hit the 3 ball, this is exploited times 10 when Bonne is out because he is their most athletic guard and best scoring guard. Unfortunately for WV, 6 teams in the 8th can shoot the heck out of it. WV would actually be better off in the 9th this year.

No one in the 8th plays defense like CCH and Cooper.

Exactly, Walton-Verona is mich better in a grind it out game against Cooper or Cov Cath who shoot 33 and 37% respectively from 3 than teams who get up and down the floor and shoot 45% from 3 like SK.

You were in the locker room

Walked right by him as he walked into the locker room.

Is Cooper gonna be able to slow down SK on Tuesday. Should be a heck of a game.

SK beat Cooper last year!

SK beat Cooper last year!

Hahaha. They sure did. That was last year. Does that count for this year??

That’s why I also asked if Cooper could slow down SK offense.

Lol, SK won and you are complaining about the refs almost giving it away.

This was a great game as everyone knew it would be.

To me the difference was Niece's 27. Miles had a double double but IMO has more to offer ... just not sure WV knows how to use him.

Expect these two teams to play two more times this year!

Agree, WV didn't use Miles well offensively or defensively. SK is running 2 guards to half court to trap the ball for over half the game so you're playing 4 on 3 below the volleyball line with a 6'8" guy and a 6'11" guy and SK has no size anywhere and you struggle ofensively most of the night. Miles should have scored 40.

From a basketball fan point of view, what a great game. SK on fire first half, Walton battles back to have a shot to tie at the end. Intentional Foul was good call, grab someone from behind by both arms is an easy call. Packed house and atmosphere was amazing. Hope to be able to make it to see these two play again in District Final.

What a great Friday night game between district rivals. SK had a nice cushion in the third and struggled to score for the last third of the game. Poor shot selection plus a WV team riding some momentum led to a nail biting ending. I believe SK was up one when Walton applied full court pressure deflected the ball and fouled Niece during while the ball was loose. Districts are at Simon this year, get there early as WV will also have their band.

All about tempo...

SK was scoring in early offense and really moving the ball around for open looks.

On defense it was a little 2-2-1 halfcourt into an extended 2-3. Best post defense is ball pressure and SK did a great job of taking away easy post ups and forcing WV to use Miles as a pressure release off the block...got him out of the post and made him more of a passer than scorer.

SK’s blitz out of the half was just enough to hang on.

The last few minutes saw SK turning it over, fouling and taking tough shots. WV was able to get to line and tempo slowed.

The Neace kid is going to be a problem for opponents the next 3 years.

SK plays a fun style and I like their guards.

WV’s Miles will be interesting to watch as he develops in college. Thought he played pretty well and is a really good player.

Hats off to SK on getting the win and to WV for clawing back into it.

Hensley and Lair are both 6'3 6'4 ish and phyiscal. I wish they both would have played football for SK.

Field Goal shooting SK 20/52 38% WV 21/49 43%

3FG SK 10/26 38% WV 3/19 16%

FT SK 10/12 83% WV 12/19 63%
