The rankings saw little reason to shift as the nine teams in the Top 10 who took the field all secured victories. Covington Catholic finally saw a 4th quarter where their starters had to plug in to what was happening on the field, but the Colonels keep their winning streak alive heading into the huge clash for NKY supremacy against Highlands. South Warren also got a challenge but survived their foe from the Nashville Metro area with a shutout win. Bowling Green versus Warren Central may fool some folks expecting a pair of teams from the Corvette City to re-new their rivalry, but this particular Warren Central is from Indiana and a load to deal with. Keep an eye on Mount Sterling, as Anderson County vs. Montgomery County is a big game for a #1 seed.

I’d say it wouldn’t change even if BG got beat by 5 touchdowns. But even if they do drop a spot it’ll all be sorted out in a little less than 2 weeks from now.

Warren Central is a 4 TD favorite. I don't think there is anything that can happen in that game that will impact Bowling Green. They will probably stay at #2 no matter what happens in that game.

Understood. But ranking teams is sometimes an irrational exercise. People see a loss and want to move a team down. If people see a 42 - 14 loss, many will want to move BG down a notch.

I mean, I guess a 70-0 blowout would look really bad, but as you said, Warren Central is such a heavy favorite not much matters. With Bowling Green and South Warren set to play next week the rankings will sort themselves out very soon.

These next 2 weeks will either justify these rankings or make them change. HHS vs Cov Cath this Friday. BG vs South Warren next Friday. Going to be exciting to see how these games play out.

Agreed. I think South Oldham has been overvalued all season, although that's not a knock because they are very good defensively and 5A has a large number of really good teams. My personal opinion has been South Oldham should be ranked sixth, behind both Highlands and Southwestern.

Birds should have gone to #4 after beating Lex Cath and SK by a combined score of 82-36.

I think that Scott County loss put some big doubts on Highlands. Scott County is perhaps the worst matchup possible for Highlands with their offensive line and power rushing game. My guess is that loss being such a blowout on top of the last couple seasons created doubts that Highlands is still working to overcome. Add that with South Oldham's only loss being 21-3 to Christian Academy Louisville and those two games are likely what has South Oldham ranked higher. South Oldham might be a notch or two too high.
