Well for one I know the stats that Boyle reports are right because I am one of the guys that does our stats. I do check them in the KHSAA to see if it is the ones that we give to the coaches and it is right. I just wonder if some go by the stats the radio guys use.

An abundance of tackles is a sign of a poor defense. They can’t get off the field. Could be bad offense as well. Would not want to be on a team leading the state in tackles. U of K used to have the leading tacklers in the SEC almost every year. Not good!

Thinking aloud, if any school(s) are not reporting accurate stats does the KHSAA have a duty to act?

 

I don't think there is a check on accuracy, but I believe there is a check (and possible fine) if stats are not reported at all (or at least there used to be).

I knew 1 and 3 but I didn’t know 2. Does it just go down as 0?

That’s how we do it. Ball caught behind the LOS goes down as negative passing yards.

Tackles are a subjective stat unlike rushing yards and touchdowns.

 

I've known coaches give an assist if a player laid a hand on them any any point or jumped on the pile at the end.

 

I've known coaches who only give a tackle to the first person to stop forward progress.

 

The tackle stat is to football what the assist is to basketball and the fielding error is to baseball.

 

I agree but if a fielder had more errors than chances we would notice or if there were more assists than baskets scored it would be noticed. You cant have more tackles than plays.....

Prior to the KHSAA fix, if I entered "-2", for example, the box reverted back to “0”. I'm glad KHSAA's technical staff has been responsive to my requests to fix issues.
