2018 Ryder Cup

Featured Replies

US team was a dysfunctional mess.

First we had Reed throwing Speith and Furyk under the bus and now we've got reports that Koepka and DJ almost got into a fist fight & had to be physically separated in the Europeans locker room Sunday evening.

And why were they in the Europeans locker room in the first place?

Because it was after everything was over, and they were having beers with their friends....

I would have recommended that they should have had beers in a neutral place (not one of the locker rooms). Friends become hard competitors in an event like the Ryder Cup. A locker room is representative of that separation. Not knowing all the details of what happened, I'm not surprised. I am surprised it was those two individuals since they are friends and work-out buddies.

My guess is that their ladies were involved, and each guy stood up for his girl, which meant turning on each other.

Couldn’t have said it any better...

And now the lady who was hit with an errant tee shot by Koepka says she may sue.

Euro Tour to help fan who has lost vision from ball strike

According to reports in French media, Remande also blamed Ryder Cup organizers for the lack of protection on the course. She said a course official did not shout when he noticed the ball was headed toward the crowd.

I'm sorry, I feel bad that she lost her vision in that eye...but, come on. You voluntarily went to the golf course.

I get she's going through a traumatic event and all, but the word that comes to mind is....moron. It's a golf tournament. Errant shots happen all the time. Pay attention.

True...true, but when alcohol, teasing, country's team getting steamrolled earlier and mouthy significant others are involved, look out. If this were a traditional PGA tournament (and they were going to get paid anyway), I totally agree that competitors become friends afterwards and let it go. But the Ryder Cup was different - those crowds, the chants, the expectations for the U.S. to win in Europe with their talent, the European players celebrating as they did, and not getting paid like a regular tournament - I think they did take it very seriously as fans might think. Somebody went over the edge and emotions took over.

I wanna make sure we’re on the same page. DJ and Koepka were trying to fight one another, not anyone from the European team.

So I’ve heard a bunch of different rumors about what caused the fight, but they are in all likelihood just rumors and it would be reckless to post. But if the rumors were true it definitely had something to do with Paulina and another member of the Ryder Cup team besides DJ and Brooks.

Definitely on the same page.
