Since I started this thread titled "transfers" how come no one has mentioned any girls that have went to NDA and only Boone?

 

Let's hear about the NDA transfers and I will get it started w/one, Jones!

 

Everyone, please chime in not only w/NDA any school is welcomed.

 

How are we defining "transfers"?

Casey Jackson and Rachel Franks. Franks used to be her last name but it has changed since and I do not recall what it is. One from Villa the other from Bishop Brossart. Don't get me wrong though doesn't bother me in the least that they transfered. I hope they are happy with their choices.

Casey loved Villa as a grade schooler 1-8 and she loves NDA as her high school 9-12. I bet everyone almost everyone playing in the KHSAA is a transfer by these standards. Thanks for using names Cooty or should I call you by name?

I knew by bringing in the private schools to this topic would get some others stiring.

 

Transfer to me is someone who leaves a school after the 9th grade, according to the old rules. W/the new rules coming in I would have to include 7/8th graders now.

 

For the purpose of this thread everyone has been including the middle school kids so whatever floats your boat. I am sure most of us know what grade who left and entered somewhere else.

NDA had at least 6 on the team last year and Highlands has 3 coming in this year. Now, 3 of these 8 were/are incoming freshman (that I know of), so it depends how you look at it. Some people think they count as transfers and others do not. However, we all know none these transfers were related to athletics anyway so it's a moot point. There is only one school in KY that must be doing something shady when they get a transfer. Those particular parents are the scum of the earth. They hate their children, their community, and they have ruined HS sports until the end of time.

I might be wrong but I was just told that these two Conner girls going to Highlands are cleared to play so you might want to check your informant. My source is very reliable, IMO.

 

I just confirmed my previous statement w/a Highlands parent of a girls bball player. They have both been ruled OK. Sad for the youngest since she was a good soccer player, so I've been told, and missed the season.

 

Shame on the KHSAA for dragging their feet as they tend to do often.

 

That is good news for them. But initially they were ruled inelidgible.

So, obviously they won their appeal.

Looking at past history I would not think they transfered to NDA

for basketball purposes.

I have no idea how you consider a person enrolling in a private high school that has no middle school a transfer. Come to think of it, I don't know how any incoming freshman to any school that hasn't played a varsity sport is considered a transfer, especially with the open enrollment policies.

 

The NDA thing is old news here last year. Didn't make sense then and doesn't make sense now. Jones was mentioned but I don't even think she plays -or did the person who mentioned Jones mean Jackson? Last time I checked, NDA didn't have a middle school up on the hill in Park Hills.

 

My guess is most kids decide during their middle school years if they are going to attend a private school once they get to high school. It may be asking too much for parents to declare a high school for their child when they enter kindergarten.

 

So much energy and ire spent here and very little on what is shaping up to be one of the best seasons in girls NKY hoops in recent memory. While I am just a fan of Boone, my guess is Behrens probably isn't in the opening day first five line-up but she is the most scrutinized person in these forums. Last time I checked, there were only 5 girls playing at a time and that may be Coach Fookes' biggest challenges this year.

The only girl I know that came to NDA AFTER she started high school was the Jones girl who is , for some reason, no longer playing.

 

The Jackson girl is in NDA's district so that's not a big deal.

 

I think is a SOPH from Campbell County that has not played any varsity yet.

doesn't matter to me if you know who I am. By reading most of my posts most know who I am anyway. Nothing to hide. Also like I said I have nothing against these girls as a matter of fact Rachel is a friend of the family and Casey played on the same AAU organization as my daughter. So if you are trying to stir something up you are looking in the wrong direction.

I didn't know NDA had a district. I agree, it's not a big deal for Casey to be at NDA. I think it is great she is there and happy. We are talking about kids transferring and since she did play V at another High School, I think that is why her name got brought up. Just as someone brought up Bowling(Beechwood) and Bradley(Conner) earlier. All three started at the schools they play for now as Freshman, so do we look at them as transfers?

 

As I said before under the old rules they are not transfers but under the new guide lines you better make a decision by the 7th grade school yr.

I was being sarcastic saying I didn't know NDA had a district. Believe me, there are no districts, they can draw from anywhere in the state under the current rules. What a family has to do is join a Parish associated w/the Catholic high school. If this is wrong, doubledeuce, please explain this district thing you are talking about.

 

Living in Florence, I could send my daughter to LexCath if I could get her down and back everyday. This so-called dist is one of the proposals being discussed where there would be an area you have to live in just like the public schools have.

You are partially correct. All Catholic high schools have districts. However, unlike the Boone County school system or the Ft Thomas school system or the Ft Mitchell school system, you do not have to live in the district to attend the school. You DO have to pay more though if you are out of district. In addition, you do not have to join a parish either. If you are not Catholic, you pay a bit more as well .

 

Lastly, from what I understand , the "district" will be defined by the diocese. IF that's the case, all of NKY will be "in district" for every Catholic high school. Heck, Maysville would be "in district."
