Game was called with 3 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter?

 

Scott County out gained the Birds 252 yards to 22.

I watched it all, it was headed for a running clock.

From what I was told, Highlands ran 9 plays on offense and 5 of them were runs between the tackles where Scott County had 3 huge defensive lineman. Not sure what gives with those play calls, but seems like more of the same old same old.

Highlands had trouble with getting anything going on offense. Huddleston had a nice kickoff return for a touchdown, outside of that, there wasn’t much else.

 

If the game continued, it was very likely heading to a running clock. The OL and DL of Scott County was just too much for Highlands.

Saw some video, Scott County looked a lot bigger than the Birds. What plays do you think would have been more effective?

From what I was told during the course of the week, Highlands would have the most success throwing the football and/or running on the edges as there was no way they were going to gain yards running between the tackles.

 

Also heard that they had a sure touchdown on a deep pass that was dropped by the receiver. Play calling these last two years has and continues to be way way to conservative.

 

If I run a one back set, then everyone knows where the ball is going so makes them rather easy to defend.

I watched it this morning...the running clock was coming sooner rather than later. If it wasn’t for the kickoff return TD off the fake by Huddy, it most likely would have been in the 1st half.

 

Play calling these last two years has and continues to be way way to conservative.

 

 

Dale always had his foot on the gas.

They passed the ball while I was watching. There was a number of “off the fingers “ from the broadcast students. There was also a few defense series where Highlands stopped them and then had a PI that saved SC’s drive. SC is a better team, Birds will be ok.

Also, the Birds first two games they came out of halftime adjusted and scrappy. I’m not saying that they would have won the game. I’m saying I would have been interested in how they did in the second half.
