Yes. And I’m a CCH fan. Chatard is a 13 time Indiana State Champ and DeSales has routinely averaged double digit wins under Coach Wagner with deep playoff runs. Both will be much improved over mediocre/bad years last season. Not saying it would necessarily matter against last years colonels but at least those two out of state teams were down. Kings will be just okay this year.

 

I'm assuming you mean Coach Wiggins for SFD?

 

In 2012 the Stallions finished 5 - 5 and in 2013 finished 5 - 4, both seasons under current coach, Ryan Wiggins.

 

Not sure how a 6 - 4 record is a historically bad year when you only have to go back 5 years to find similar records. And in 2010 they finished the season with a losing record, also under Coach Wiggins.

More often than not that's a product of GCL south teams not wanting to play Cov Cath rather than vice versa. Believe me.

Cov Cath has played GCL teams in the majority of the 51 seasons that they've been playing football. In the 1990s, they played Moeller almost every year. They have managed to have plenty of games against LaSalle in the last 15 years or so, but the games against St. Xavier, Moeller and Elder have not so inconspicuously disappeared, for the most part. When Cov Cath isn't competing for state every year, St. X, Moeller, and Elder, who are continually competing for national ranking, don't want to step down in their schedule to play a team like Cov Cath.

 

As a result, Cov Cath has turned to playing teams from further north in Ohio like Cardinal Mooney, Bishop Watterson, and Columbus DeSales.

It will be hard for Cov Cath every year to have teams like they had last year and this year and always stay competitive with big school GCL teams. It’s a numbers game. Last time Cov Cath played a GCL school it didn’t end well.

I would think they should at least be considering it, if not making inquiries already, seeing as Cov Cath is on the back end of most of their current home-and-aways. Pretty crazy to go scheduling games that require a team from Canada to come down to Cincinnati or vice versa when there's a pretty darn solid team just across the Ohio River. I get it that playing games like that are what get your team into the national rankings discussion, but my point is that Cov Cath is some real-deal competition for them right now. Sounds like Kings at least got the idea.
