If Ashland wins by 3 TD's +, is Raceland a title contender in 1A?

Beachwood is the clear favorite in 1A regardless of the outcome of this game. That said, if Raceland can keep this game around 3td's they can beat anyone in 1A not named Beechwood. No disrispect to the Rams at all, Beechwood is just on another level from anyone else in 1A. Also this Ashland team is the best I've seen in a long time, so I wouldn't put too much thought into how the Rams season will go after tonight's game.

For what it's worth, Ashlands starting DT, Junior Jones is out for a few weeks due to a non football related surgery.

Not having Jones out there is a huge loss for the Tomcats. He's a force on the interior D-line.

As for VoR's question, It's just too early to tell what a potential 3+ score loss would mean for Raceland. I'm leaning toward saying yes, they could still be a legitimate contender, mainly because Ashland looks like the real deal.

Ashland will definitely miss Jones the next few weeks but his backup Dakotah Church is a solid player as well. Ashland is a solid 2-3 deep on the line, so him being out won't hurt as bad as it would in some years. His backup got quite a bit of pt in the Harlan County game and was impressive as well.

Ashland only won 14-0 last year versus Raceland. Why does everyone seem to think the margin will be bigger this year for Ashland? Is Ashland better? Raceland not as good? A little of both?

From what I've seen so far, Ashland is much better than they were at this point in the season last year. Last year it took a few games for Ashland to really click, this season they were playing great even in the scrimmages. Ashland returns 8 starters on both sides of the ball from last season's team. I imagine that the experience has a lot to do with Ashland starting off where they left off last season, but there is also more to it I believe. I'll wait and give more thoughts after seeing Ashland for the second time this season, while facing a more dimensional team than last week.

Cheers to an injury free game and I'll go ahead and wish the Ram's the best of luck, in every other game they play this season.
